Xavier Thorpe’s Swiss Exodus Shapes Wednesday Season 2

Netflix’s Wednesday Season 2 addresses the sudden disappearance of Xavier Thorpe by sending him off to Reichenbach Academy in Switzerland.
Maya Rivers here, my quill quivering like a raven’s wing at the news of a character exiled beyond the misty mountains of Nevermore. In this lyrical excursion through the latest Jenna Ortega led mystery, we uncover why Xavier Thorpe, once the dreamy painter with the one eyed crow muse, is nowhere to be seen in part one of the sophomore season.
Episode one, which streamed on August 6, swiftly informs viewers that the charmed French Canadian exchange has packed his brushes for Zurich. Principal Barry Dort, portrayed by Steve Buscemi, delivers the exposé with dry wit: Xavier transferred to Reichenbach Academy in Switzerland after his father, Vincent Thorpe, withdrew both son and endowment following the murder scare last season. The elder Thorpe could not stomach the whisper of accusation that conflated his artist son with the real killer known as Hyde, played by Hunter Doohan.
This forced departure reshapes the power balance at Nevermore Academy. Catherine Zeta Jones steps more prominently into the limelight as Morticia Addams, now leading the gala fundraising committee. Dort explains that Vincent Helms-Thorpe chaired those efforts for three consecutive years before rescinding his patronage in protest of an undeserved murder charge.
Though Xavier remains unseen, his ghostly presence emerges in a farewell letter and a haunting portrait. Emma Myers’ character, Enid Sinclair, reads the missive aloud in the dormitory’s candlelit gloom: “I tried texting, but I guess you lost the phone I gave you. Consider this my goodbye gift. The image came unbidden to me, a one eyed crow that circles your secrets. Who’s Wednesday Addams without a mystery to solve, right?” The poemlike note leaves both Wednesday and viewers craving further clues.
Behind the scenes, actor Percy Hynes White was removed from the production more than two years after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced in January 2023. He has denied the claims, calling them “baseless” on his Instagram Stories in June 2023 and speaking of online doxxing and harmful misinformation campaigns. White insisted he cannot accept any portrayal suggesting criminal negligence or bigotry.
By May, according to Deadline, he was publicly ready to support the series he once called home. “I had so much fun working on this show. I can’t wait to watch Season 2 :), much love,” he shared on Instagram Stories. E! News reached out to his representatives for comment without reply, and Netflix declined to add further detail.
Season 2 part one invites fans back into Jericho on Netflix, with part two arriving on September 6. And so our gothic saga resets under Swiss skies, leaving a phantom artist in its wake. Will the crow’s portrait return to haunt Wednesday’s dreams, or has Xavier drawn his final curtain?
