Wendy Williams Celebrates with Friends as She Fights to End Guardianship
  • PublishedApril 12, 2025

You might want to sit down for this one, because Wendy Williams is out and about, enjoying life while simultaneously wrestling with her guardianship situation. The former talk show queen, now 60 years old, was recently spotted dining with friends at Fresco by Scotto in New York City, looking surprisingly cheerful in a black dress. Yes, you read that right. Williams, despite her ongoing legal battles, was seen laughing and indulging in dessert — complete with festive sparklers, because why not add a little flair to your dinner, right?

Just last week, she opened up about her desire to end her guardianship, which she described as “long overdue.” This isn’t just a fleeting whim; Williams is serious about reclaiming her life, expressing hopes of traveling the world and even finding love, which, let’s be honest, is something we all could use a little more of. Williams had originally sought guardianship as a safety net, but it seems those safety nets have turned into shackles. “It will absolutely 1000% happen,” she confidently declared regarding her fight for freedom — an optimistic sentiment echoed by fans who rallied outside her assisted living facility to support her.

However, it’s not all sunshine and sparklers. Enter her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, who has claimed that further medical testing is crucial for Williams’ care. While Morrissey insists that a brain scan and neuropsychological assessment were scheduled, Williams has been less than cooperative, dismissing the need for such tests and calling the situation “bulls—.” I suppose that’s one way to express your frustration about being under someone else’s thumb.

Since May 2022, Williams has been under a guardianship that controls her finances and health, which led her to reside in a high-end assisted living facility to manage her cognitive issues, including a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia. Yet Williams’ health care advocate insists she is eager for a jury to decide on her guardianship status, following what they claim are positive mental capacity evaluations. Williams herself echoed these sentiments, boasting on Good Day New York that she “passed” her mental competency tests “with flying colors.” Talk about a triumphant comeback!

So, while we watch Williams navigate this turbulent chapter, with dessert in one hand and a dream of freedom in the other, let’s remember that reclaiming one’s life is no small feat. Hopefully, she’ll soon be jet-setting to Paris and enjoying the finer things in life, with or without sparklers.

Glad I could clear that up for you.
