Tom Brady’s Japanese Family Adventure: Cards, Culture & Kids
Another day, another celeb family escape. Tom Brady isn’t tossing aside his legacy now that he’s retired. In June the legendary quarterback flew to Japan with his two younger children, Benjamin, 15, and Vivian, 12, whom he shares with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen, and he’s been chronicling every highlight online.
The trio’s journey kicked off in Tokyo, where they landed at a sports card shop stocked with rare finds. In his July 18 YouTube video Brady casually browsed shelves before treating himself to his own rookie card – complete with the back-of-card praise about his “excellent arm strength” and “outstanding athlete” status. That moment felt almost meta for a guy who’s still widely considered among football’s all-time greats. He then traded a few cards with Benjamin and Vivian before the family wandered into an interactive museum focused on Japan’s samurai heritage.
Channeling classic anime vibes, Brady tried his hand at samurai sword drills and even joked about feeling like a live-action Rurouni Kenshin hero. Next up was a meeting with famed pop artist Takashi Murakami, who walked them through his colorful creations, according to footage posted on Brady’s Instagram. Dinner that night took place at Wagyumafia in Tokyo, where the group sampled premium wagyu beef in a sleek tasting room.
Then it was off to Kyoto. There the Brady clan donned traditional attire to learn taiko drumming rhythms. The June recap on Brady’s Instagram shows them keeping perfect tempo and wrapping up with a spirited performance. His caption read, “Japan we love you ! We had SO MUCH FUN ! Thank you for your hospitality and beauty ! What an amazing culture of honor, respect, and discipline. From the history to the traditions, every day we learned and laughed and loved – the food, the shops, the people, the animals and everything in between ! Arigato gozaimasu !” The post captures them at a sumo match, exploring zoo animals and soaking in street-food stalls.
This Tokyo-Kyoto treasure hunt isn’t the only time Brady has shown off his dad-mode abroad or at home. Gisele shared a sweet snapshot on Instagram for son Jack’s 14th birthday, and Brady has been spotted celebrating Super Bowl victory parades with Vivian in tow. From Halloween shenanigans as Pennywise to horseback rides in the countryside, it’s clear these family trips keep them close while letting the kids rack up global memories.
Tom’s globe-trotting highlights suggest he’s just getting started building stories with his kids beyond the gridiron. Okay cool, so like, yeah, that happened.
