The Strokes Prime Vegas and El Paso for ACL 2025 Warm-Up

The Strokes Prime Vegas and El Paso for ACL 2025 Warm-Up
  • PublishedAugust 7, 2025

The Strokes are set to play two warm-up concerts in late September and early October before headlining Austin City Limits 2025.

Jordan Collins here. I guess I can simplify this for you.

If you somehow missed the memo, Julian Casablancas and his garage-rock cohorts have locked in two intimate shows at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on Saturday, September 27 and at El Paso’s Abraham Chavez Theatre on Wednesday, October 1. These one-off gigs are billed as “warm-up” acts ahead of their headlining weekends at Austin City Limits Festival on October 3-5 and October 10-12, where they’ll share stages with heavyweights like Sabrina Carpenter, Hozier, Cage The Elephant, Doechii and Rilo Kiley. Special guests for the two warm-up nights remain under wraps, but industry whispers suggest surprises are imminent.

This mini-tour marks The Strokes’ first string of club-style appearances since a benefit performance at Chicago’s Credit Union 1 Arena in March 2024. That show, held in support of U.S. Representative Kina Collins, saw the band deliver a 16-song set, according to Set List FM. They dusted off fan-favorite classics such as “Is This It,” “New York City Cops,” “Soma,” “Someday” and “Reptilia,” and even revived the under-appreciated gem “Call It Fate, Call It Karma.”

Reviewers at Prowl Radio noted that most members “focus on delivering a tight sound, resulting in them standing still on stage while lead singer Julian walks and dances around, waiting for his verses.” They added that Casablancas regaled the crowd with unhinged asides like “Where is my elixir? My steroid juice!” followed by his signature maniacal laughter and a rallying cry of “People of Chicago… REPENT!”

Outside of The Strokes, Casablancas has been busy with his side-project, The Voidz. On July 30, the group dropped a four-track EP titled Męġż of Råm, showcasing an experimental blend of laid-back vibes, metallic auto-tune and art-rock ambition. Standout cuts like the paranoid anthem “Blue Demon”—equal parts cursed video game soundtrack and dance-floor stimulus—underline Jules’s willingness to push sonic boundaries.

Tickets for the Las Vegas and El Paso dates go on sale Friday, August 8 via Vivid Seats, a secondary market platform offering a 100% buyer guarantee for safe and secure delivery. Prices may vary above or below face value depending on demand. For ACL Festival passes, single- and multi-day tickets are available on official festival sites and authorized resellers. Make sure to lock in your spot early—these dates are expected to sell fast.

Once the warm-up shows wrap, The Strokes will descend on Austin for back-to-back weekends. In addition to the five core members—Casablancas, Nick Valensi, Albert Hammond Jr., Nikolai Fraiture and Fabrizio Moretti—ACL 2025 boasts a stacked lineup that has fans buzzing. Personally, I can’t wait to catch Dr. Dog, but perhaps that’s just my indie-rock bias showing.

Well, now you finally understand!
