The Secret’s Out: Ryan Seacrest Spills ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Set Secret

The Secret’s Out: Ryan Seacrest Spills ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Set Secret
  • PublishedSeptember 10, 2025

I’m Sage Matthews, a cynical observer who’s seen it all, and I’m here to break down the latest news. As I scroll through my feeds at 2 AM, shaking my head and muttering, “Of course this happened,” I stumble upon yet another revelation that confirms my suspicions: everything is indeed falling apart. This time, it’s Ryan Seacrest spilling a secret about the ‘Wheel of Fortune’ set that’s left Vanna White stunned.

Ryan Seacrest, the 50-year-old host of ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ recently revealed a behind-the-scenes secret about the show’s iconic wheel. In an interview with ‘Good Morning America’ reporter Trevor Ault on September 5, Seacrest shared that the memorable clicking noise fans hear every time a contestant spins the wheel is created by rubber bands – similar to those used in orthodontia. Ault was able to spot the bands in the colorful wheel, which consists of 24 pricing wedges. Vanna White, the longtime letter-turner and co-host, was shocked to learn about this secret, asking Seacrest, “Do you know I never knew that?” Seacrest quipped, “Well, welcome to season 43,” as White began her 43rd season on the show.

Seacrest and White were promoting the new season of the iconic game show, which premiered on Monday. Seacrest, who took over hosting duties of ‘Wheel of Fortune’ in 2024 after Pat Sajak announced his retirement in 2023, entered his second season as host of the Emmy-winning show. White, 58, has appeared in over 8,100 episodes and expressed her enthusiasm for the show, saying, “I love coming to work every day. It’s always fun and you never know what’s going to happen.”

Interestingly, White has had her share of experience hosting the show. In November 2019, she ended up hosting the show for the first time after Sajak underwent emergency surgery for an intestinal blockage. White recalled that she only had one rehearsal before shooting her first show and made “a few minor mistakes” that were not related to the game. She noted that the scoreboard was far from where she was standing, making it difficult for her to see the numbers clearly.

White has extended her contract with ‘Wheel of Fortune’ through 2026 and received a “substantial pay increase” to return to the ABC classic, according to TMZ. As the show continues to captivate audiences, it’s clear that the behind-the-scenes secrets are just as fascinating as the game itself.
