Sydney Sweeney Rumored for Devil Wears Prada 2 Set Cameo in NYC

Riley Carter here. Okay, but like why is Sydney Sweeney suddenly the buzz on the Devil Wears Prada 2 set? Fans armed with smartphones think they’ve spotted the 27-year-old actress sneaking out of a trailer next to Emily Blunt on August 6 in New York City.
Onlooker video posted to social media shows a redheaded Emily Blunt stepping off one trailer and a mysterious blonde in a baby-blue hooded sweatshirt ducking under a large umbrella beside her. Earlier that day, paparazzi shots captured the same figure emerging from an SUV as the umbrella shielded her face. The clip caption read “Sydney Sweeney and Emily Blunt are seen on the set of The Devil Wears Prada 2,” sparking a frenzy online (New York Post).
Reps remain tight-lipped. The Post reached out to representatives for Sydney Sweeney and for 20th Century Studios, the film’s distributor, but neither side confirmed the cameo. Meanwhile, Variety reported that Emily Blunt, back in her signature fiery coiffure, joins original co-stars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci for the fashion world sequel. New additions include Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, Rachel Bloom, B.J. Novak, Kenneth Branagh and Simone Ashley. Singer Ciara and model Ashley Graham have also been sighted on set.
Interestingly, Sweeney’s IMDb page does not list Devil Wears Prada 2 among her credits. That may be because she has a packed 2024 schedule involving the long-awaited third season of HBO’s Emmy-winning drama Euphoria, plus her turn as boxer Christy Martin in David Michôd’s biopic due this September. She also wrapped shooting Paul Feig’s upcoming thriller The Housemaid with Amanda Seyfried, slated for December release.
On the personal front, Sweeney made headlines this spring when she and fiancé Jonathan Davino called off their wedding. According to insiders speaking to People magazine, she “did not feel right” about marrying and is “exactly where she wants to be” focusing on work over romance.
For context, the original Devil Wears Prada premiered in 2006, adapted from Lauren Weisberger’s bestselling novel. It chronicled Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs as she navigated the icy editorial reign of Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly at Runway magazine. Devil Wears Prada 2 reportedly centers on Priestly grappling with the decline of print publishing, locking horns with Blunt’s Emily Charlton character—now a high-powered luxury brand executive armed with the ad dollars Priestly desperately needs (Variety).
Adrian Grenier is not expected to reprise his role as Nate Cooper, while Anne Hathaway’s new love interest is played by Australian actor Patrick Brammall. The sequel is eyeing a May 2026 theatrical release.
With cameras rolling and umbrellas flying, the big question remains: Is Sydney Sweeney really on board for a stealth cameo? Time will tell.
Anyway, that’s the tea. Do with it what you will.
