Stars Shine Bright at Recent Film Events and Festivals

Stars Shine Bright at Recent Film Events and Festivals
  • PublishedApril 14, 2025

Oh great, another week of Hollywood’s finest strutting their stuff like peacocks in a parade. Amanda Seyfried graced a screening of her new film “Long Bright River” in Los Angeles, and surprise, surprise, she actually managed to look good while talking about it at the Directors Guild of America. But let’s not get too excited; the event was just a typical display of glitz and glam, where celebrities gather to remind us that they exist. Meanwhile, in Coachella Valley, Emma Roberts kicked off the Summer of LOFT campaign—because, evidently, we need another excuse to buy overpriced clothes while standing in a desert.

Across the pond, Michael B. Jordan was busy posing for cameras during a photocall for his latest film “Sinners” in London. You know, just another day in the life of an A-lister trying to maintain that perfect Instagram aesthetic. As if we didn’t have enough celebrity headlines, Jeff Goldblum was stealing kisses in Como, Italy, while watching a soccer match. Romantic? Sure. Necessary? Not even close.

And let’s not forget the ever-bustling Coachella scene, where Cardi B graced us with her presence at a Revolve Festival event, reminding us that the world’s best festival attire comes with a hefty price tag. T-Pain was also on hand for the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, performing like it was 2005 all over again. It’s almost as if some of these artists believe nostalgia is a valid strategy to stay relevant.

Lily Gladstone and others took part in a drag brunch in L.A. and, while I can appreciate a good brunch, I’m not entirely sure how many mimosas it takes to make watching a drag show seem like groundbreaking entertainment. And if you thought Lizzo would miss out on the afterparty for “Saturday Night Live,” think again. She was out in New York City like it was her own living room.

Back in the world of sports and celebrity, Tom Brady was tossing footballs to fans at the opening of his CardVault store in New Jersey, because nothing says “I’m still relevant” like a football-themed pop-up. Meanwhile, Serena Williams was busy charming the crowd at her beauty pop-up event in California, showing us once again that she’s not just about tennis.

So there you have it, a week packed with star-studded events that remind us how little we matter in the grand scheme of celebrity culture. Did anyone really need to know that Mary J. Blige and Ne-Yo were hanging out in New York City? Probably not. But here we are, endlessly scrolling through photos of the rich and famous living their best lives while we sit here, rolling our eyes. And that, dear reader, is why we can’t have nice things.
