Shannon Price Claps Back at Rumors of Involvement in Gary Coleman’s Death

Shannon Price Claps Back at Rumors of Involvement in Gary Coleman’s Death
  • PublishedFebruary 18, 2025

In a fiery response to swirling allegations surrounding the tragic death of Diff’rent Strokes star Gary Coleman, his ex-wife Shannon Price is defending her innocence against claims made in the new Peacock documentary, GARY. The documentary, which features interviews with some of Coleman’s friends and family, insinuates that Price may have had a hand in his untimely demise, a notion that she vehemently denies. In a candid interview with Inside Edition, Price described the accusations as “horrible,” asserting, “I did not hurt him. I have nothing to hide.”

Coleman, who passed away in May 2010 at just 42 years old, suffered an intracranial hemorrhage after a fall in the Utah home he shared with Price. The couple had a tumultuous marriage, marrying in August 2007 but separating just a year later. Price’s presence during the incident has raised eyebrows, particularly after a 911 call revealed moments of confusion as she didn’t follow the dispatcher’s instructions. However, Price insists she was searching for a towel to help Coleman, recounting, “I actually had to run around looking for a towel because we didn’t have any in the downstairs bathroom.”

As part of her defense, Price expressed frustration at being painted as the villain, lamenting, “When you’re pointing fingers at me, you better make sure your hands are clean.” Furthermore, she points to official findings: Santaquin Police Chief Dennis Howard stated back in 2010 that there was “absolutely nothing suspicious about [Coleman’s] death,” which authorities also ruled as an accident—info that’s echoed by various news outlets over the years.

Despite the documentary’s portrayal, many are still left wondering what happened on that fateful day. As the narrative unfolds, Price’s explicit denials contrast sharply with her former in-law’s claims, adding layers to an already complex story of love, tragedy, and the public’s insatiable appetite for true crime drama. GARY became the latest edition to Coleman’s legacy, now streaming on Peacock, intended to shed light on the life of a child star turned tragic figure, but in the process, it reignites old rumors that some would rather leave buried.
