Shakira’s Tour Hits a Snag: Third Concert Canceled Over Production Issues

Well, it seems the tour gods are not smiling upon Shakira’s “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour” as the Colombian pop sensation has announced the postponement of yet another concert, much to the chagrin of her die-hard fans. Scheduled for March 2 and 3 at the Estadio Nacional in Santiago, Chile, these shows have been halted due to “stage production issues.” And this isn’t the first time Shakira has had to pull the brakes on her Latin American leg—previous concerts in Medellín, Colombia, and Lima, Peru, have also faced delays, making this the third cancellation in a row.
In a heartfelt statement shared on her social media, Shakira expressed her deep disappointment, stating, “You can only imagine how painful it is for me as an artist after so much effort to come to a country I love.” The singer went on to explain that the production team responsible for the stage setup did not meet the necessary safety standards, putting her band, dancers, and fans at risk. Shakira’s commitment to quality and safety is commendable—she firmly stated, “There are two things I would never compromise: the security of my team and that of my fans.”
This tour, which kicked off on February 11 in Rio de Janeiro, has already seen its fair share of hurdles. Just a week before announcing the postponement in Chile, she had to cancel her Medellín concert due to safety concerns, and prior to that, a February 16 show in Lima was scrapped due to an abdominal issue that landed her in the hospital. Talk about a turbulent start to what was supposed to be a triumphant return to the stage for the 48-year-old star.
The tour is set to continue with shows in Argentina before heading to North America in May. Shakira has promised her Chilean fans a full-fledged performance in the future, asserting her determination to inspect the venue personally if necessary. Let’s hope that the next time she hits the stage, it’s with a rock-solid production team on her side, and that her fans get the show they deserve without any more hiccups. After all, the world could always use a little more of Shakira’s electrifying moves and catchy tunes.
