Rock Legends Faces Prepare Comeback Album After Decades of Silence

Rock Legends Faces Prepare Comeback Album After Decades of Silence
  • PublishedApril 25, 2025

No cap, the rock gods are blessing us with a major throwback moment. Faces, the iconic band that basically defined classic rock swagger, is about to drop their first album in over half a century—and honestly, we’re here for this nostalgic trip.

Drummer Kenney Jones just spilled the tea to The Telegraph that they’ve got approximately 11 tracks recorded at RAK Studios in London, with music legend Jools Holland making a cameo appearance. But before you start planning your vinyl listening party, pump the brakes—this album isn’t dropping this year.

The band, originally a supergroup featuring rock royalty Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood, hasn’t released an album since 1973’s “Ooh La La”. We’re talking about a musical reunion that’s been brewing longer than most millennials have been alive. Stewart, now 80, has been teasing this project since 2021, promising fans they’ll “finish it this year”—which sounds suspiciously like every procrastinator’s favorite promise.

For the uninitiated, Faces was a legendary English rock group that dropped four killer albums between 1970 and 1973. After Wood jumped ship to join the Rolling Stones and Stewart’s solo career took off, the band essentially dissolved. Tragically, founding guitarist Ronnie Lane passed away in 1997, and keyboardist Ian McLagan died in 2014, making this reunion even more poignant.

Their last public performance was a nostalgic moment at the 2020 BRIT Awards, where they performed their classic hit “Stay with Me”. Since then, fans have been waiting, hoping, and low-key manifesting this comeback.

The recording process seems delightfully chaotic. Jones candidly admitted not all 11 tracks will make the final cut, but “most of them are good”—which is basically rock star speak for “trust us, we’ve still got it”. The band’s schedule is complicated by ongoing tours and individual projects, with Stewart and Wood juggling multiple commitments.

In a heartwarming side note, Wood and Stewart recently celebrated Stewart’s 80th birthday together, proving their friendship remains solid decades after their musical heyday. Their social media posts showcased a night out with their wives, radiating the same rock ‘n’ roll energy they’ve always possessed.

Anyway, if this album drops, it’ll be the musical equivalent of a vintage designer comeback—unexpected, potentially epic, and definitely something to tell your parents about. Stay tuned, because this might just be the coolest musical resurrection of the decade.
