Rapper Mack Maine Mourns 20-Year-Old Son Isaiah After Seizure

Rapper Mack Maine, known offstage as Jermaine Preyan and a trusted collaborator of Lil Wayne, announced on July 28 that his son Isaiah “Zeke” Preyan passed away earlier this month after suffering a seizure in his California home. Isaiah was just 20 years old.
In a public Instagram tribute, Maine admitted, “I’m still in shock and still processing the fact that he’s gone.” He confessed feeling “confused” and wrestling with the question “why my child and not me.” Those candid words underscored a father’s raw grief, as he shared a series of cherished family photos spanning Isaiah’s life.
The rapper went on to paint a peaceful picture of his son’s next chapter. He envisioned Zeke reunited with his grandparents, writing, “I was his father while he was here in the flesh but now he’s ascended to rejoin OUR Father God in the spirit and his ancestors who also loved him dearly.”
Maine did not hold back on expressing the joy Isaiah brought him. He wrote, “Zeke I thank you for granting me one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received, Fatherhood.” He credited his son with giving him newfound purpose: “YOU were my biggest inspiration and motivation…YOU were the reason I got out of the bed when everyone else snoozed.”
He continued, “Your smile brightened my dark days as you were my SONshine. Your soul was made of innocence and your heart was pure.” Maine noted that announcing this loss on his own birthday compounded the pain, and he urged followers to cherish every moment with loved ones.
“If you all are reading this and would like to do sumthin for me for my bday I ask that you hug the ones you love and squeeze em tight,” he wrote. “If you can’t hug em call em to tell them you love them… And if you in the same boat as me close your eyes and remember the good times or scroll thru pics and vids.”
Support poured in from the music community. Rap superstar Nicki Minaj commented, “I don’t even believe what I just read. This can’t be real. I love you so much. You guys raised the most incredible young man. He was such a perfect boy. We are praying for your whole family, Mack.”
Grammy winner 2 Chainz also weighed in, writing, “Bru im so sorry to hear this. praying for you and the fam I love ya bru.” Their public condolences highlighted how deeply Isaiah’s spirit resonated beyond his immediate circle.
