Prince Harry and William Poised for Tense Royal Reunion at Cousin Peter Phillips’s Wedding

Prince Harry and William Poised for Tense Royal Reunion at Cousin Peter Phillips’s Wedding
  • PublishedAugust 5, 2025

Prince Harry and Prince William are both set to receive official wedding invitations to cousin Peter Phillips’s upcoming nuptials, according to Hello! magazine.

I’m Kai Montgomery, your grumpy guru reluctantly dispensing obvious royal intel. Look, I don’t want to be the one to say it, but here we are: two brothers locked in a yearslong family feud might actually share the same dance floor.

Peter Phillips, the eldest grandson and once proclaimed “favorite” of the late Queen Elizabeth II, confirmed his engagement to Harriet Sperling last month after just one year of dating. A spokesperson for the couple told The Post, “Mr. Peter Phillips, the son of HRH The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips, and Ms. Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr. Rupert Sanders and Mrs. Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have today confirmed their official engagement.”

The announcement added that King Charles and Queen Camilla, along with the Prince and Princess of Wales, have already been informed. “Both families were delighted with the wonderful news of their engagement,” the statement read. No wedding date has been set yet, but the mere prospect of a gathering has social media users wondering whether the estranged brothers will actually show face under shared roof.

Peters’s relationship with William and Harry dates back to childhood. Yet in recent years, shifting alliances and the Sussexes’ 2020 royal exit have left fences between siblings that look tougher to scale than even the royal estate’s high walls. The last time all three appeared in the same place was Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022, when sources told The Post that the princes “kept their distance” and barely exchanged a word.

Harry, 40, previously traveled to England for sister Zara Tindall’s wedding in 2011, but since stepping back from official duties, he’s opted to attend milestone events solo. He lost his bid for taxpayer-funded security earlier this year and has cited safety concerns for skipping other high-profile celebrations, including the wedding of longtime friend Hugh Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster.

So far, Peter has not confirmed whether Harry or William have RSVP’d. Insiders say there’s a chance of a brief interaction if both princes decide to make the trip back to the U.K. After all, family weddings are a rare moment when private tensions collide with public expectations. Will we see the prince authors of memoirs and newspaper headlines politely nod at one another over the wedding cake or simply share a glance across a crowded hall? Only time will tell.

Did anyone actually imagine the Windsors would get through one family wedding without a side of drama? Didn’t think so.
