Oscar De La Hoya Surprises as Fuzzy Peas on “Masked Singer” Shrek Night!
  • PublishedFebruary 19, 2025

On the latest episode of “The Masked Singer,” viewers were taken for an unexpected ride when the beloved Fuzzy Peas was unmasked to reveal none other than world champion boxer and Olympic gold medalist, Oscar De La Hoya. The episode, themed “Shrek Night,” featured a whimsical set filled with toadstools and fairytale nods as host Nick Cannon guided the audience through the enchanted evening. The show successfully embraced the Shrek theme, with panelist Ken Jeong dazzling in a Lord Farquaad costume, performing Smash Mouth’s classic “All Star,” much to the delight of fans. Jeong’s antics were not alone; fellow judges Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Robin Thicke, and Rita Ora joined in, sporting their own fairy tale personas—McCarthy-Wahlberg as Princess Fiona and Thicke as a fanciful wizard, while Ora amusingly recounted her own “Shrek life” experiences with husband Taika Waititi.

The contestants brought their A-game, delivering performances of iconic tracks from the Shrek franchise. Notably, Fuzzy Peas—a contestant shrouded in mystery—performed “I’m a Believer,” drawing everyone’s attention while attempting to keep their identity under wraps. However, despite lively performance and clever hints, the panel struggled with guesses and ended up hilariously off the mark when it came to identifying him. Jeong speculated it could be Pitbull, while McCarthy-Wahlberg whimsically leaned towards Antonio Banderas, none of which were even close!

The reveal of De La Hoya caught the judges off guard, showcasing the fun unpredictability “The Masked Singer” is known for and leading to a riot of laughter among the panelists. De La Hoya, not just a boxing legend but also a Grammy nominee, previously made waves as a semifinalist on “The Masked Dancer,” affirming his established presence in entertainment outside of the sports world. With the Group A finals looming, fans are buzzing about whether the mysterious character Lucky Duck will finally make an appearance next week. Tune in to Fox on Wednesday at 8-9 p.m. ET/PT for more celebrity surprises and musical performances!
