Nick Cannon Defies Vasectomy Pressure: “I’m Not Done” with Fathering Kids

Nick Cannon, the man who has turned procreation into a full-time hobby, is once again making headlines for his refusal to get a vasectomy despite fathering 12 children with six different women. On a recent episode of his podcast *We Playin’ Spades*, Cannon responded to a joking suggestion from former NFL player Channing Crowder about considering the procedure. While Cannon acknowledged that a vasectomy would be “the responsible thing to do,” he quickly dismissed the idea, declaring, “I’m not done.”
The *Drumline* actor, who has insured his “precious cargo” for a cool $10 million, joked that the policy should have been $12 million—one million for each child. “I gotta make sure my kids are taken care of when my manhood no longer works,” he quipped. Cannon’s approach to family planning seems to be less about planning and more about divine intervention, as he often credits his growing brood to “God’s miracles.”
Cannon’s journey to fatherhood has been anything but conventional. From his twins with Mariah Carey to the heartbreaking loss of his son Zen to brain cancer, his family life has been a rollercoaster of joy and tragedy. Despite the challenges, Cannon remains steadfast in his belief that his children are blessings, even if most of them weren’t planned. “If you would have told me in 2012… that I would have 12 children, I’d be like there is no way in the world that I would ever plan that or that would happen,” he shared on *The Language of Love with Dr. Laura Berman*.
While Cannon has “contemplated deeply” about getting a vasectomy, he ultimately sees no reason to close the door on future additions to his family. “The more the merrier,” he said, adding, “We roll the dice to the name and what you will build.”
Cannon’s philosophy on fatherhood might leave some scratching their heads, but it’s clear he’s committed to embracing whatever life—or divine intervention—throws his way. Whether he’s joking about his $10 million insurance policy or reflecting on the loss of his son Zen, Cannon’s approach to family is as unconventional as it is heartfelt.
And so, the saga of Nick Cannon’s ever-expanding family continues, leaving us all to wonder: How many more miracles are in store?
