NFL Star’s Ex-Wife Arrested in Jealous Attack on Chiropractor

Kelly Davis, the estranged wife of Thomas Davis, was taken into custody on September 3 after a warrant was issued for her arrest on August 29. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Laura Watterson, a chiropractor, accused Kelly of hitting her multiple times at her office in Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 26. Watterson claims Kelly became violent after she thought Watterson had been intimate with Thomas Davis.

The alleged altercation started when Kelly began screaming at Watterson while the doctor was with a patient. When Kelly was asked to leave, she allegedly socked Watterson in the chest. As Watterson tried to guide Kelly out of her office, Kelly hit her again, knocking off her glasses, and then hit her once more on the other side of the head.

Kelly’s attorney, James J. Exum, disputes the allegations, stating that they are “false.” Exum added that they believe in Kelly’s innocence and look forward to challenging the allegations in court.

Kelly and Thomas Davis married in March 2008 and have two children together, including 17-year-old Thomas Davis Jr., a four-star high school linebacker prospect who has committed to play for Notre Dame next season. However, their marriage hit rock bottom in February 2025 when Kelly filed a civil case stating that the couple split in March 2024 after Thomas allegedly engaged in illicit sexual conduct with at least six women other than Kelly during their marriage.

Thomas Davis, a first-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, played for 15 seasons, primarily with the Carolina Panthers, where he made three Pro Bowls and accumulated over 1,000 combined tackles. He also played for the Chargers and the Commanders.

Attempts to reach Thomas Davis and Laura Watterson for comment were unsuccessful. Kelly has been charged with one count of misdemeanor assault and battery.
