Naomi Watts Marks Son Sasha’s 18th in Rare Photo Tribute

Avery Sinclair here, ready to deflate the fanfare around your latest celebrity milestone. Let’s see what she’s hawking this time.
Naomi Watts decided that her son Sasha’s 18th birthday was the perfect excuse to flood Instagram with photos we all desperately needed to see. In a July 25 post that screamed “look at me,” the 56-year-old actress treated her followers to a carousel of snapshots featuring the rarely glimpsed young man she shares with ex Liev Schreiber. Watts captioned the gallery “Happy birthday sweet, darling @sashapeteschreiber,” and reminded everyone that Sasha is “18 today and ready for the world.”
To add a pinch of nostalgia, Watts included a throwback of coddling infant Sasha and two more recent frames where mother and son beam like they’re auditioning for a toothpaste commercial. Then, predictably, she offered a heartfelt line about watching him grow into “the kindest, most wonderful young man” and thanked him for making her “a first time mum.” Because nothing says groundbreaking like boilerplate maternal pride.
Meanwhile, in the “aren’t we mature” plot twist, Liev Schreiber and Naomi reunited a few weeks earlier to cheer on Sasha’s high school graduation. After an 11-year relationship ended in 2016, the former couple reunited on Instagram Stories in June, with Watts declaring “He did it!! So so proud” while standing next to her current partner, Billy Crudup. Schreiber was there too with girlfriend Taylor Neisen, proving that nothing says co-parent harmony like a staged photo op.
If you’re curious about Sasha’s grand plans now that he’s officially an adult, he’s bound for the USC School of Dramatic Arts. In April the teen posted his own commitment announcement stating “I’m Sasha and I’m from New York City. I’m 100% committed to the BFA in Acting at USC and so excited. I love acting, soccer, surfing, skating, cooking, and partying.” He even threw out a roommate plea in case you happen to share his eclectic hobbies.
As if one milestone wasn’t enough, both parents have also rallied around their daughter Kai, now 16 and navigating life as a trans teenager. Schreiber told Variety that changing pronouns wasn’t a shock because “Kai was always who Kai is,” and praised her resilience for publicly embracing her identity.
In other second-generation spotlight news, E! Online also caught up with Jodie Sweetin and her eldest daughter Zoie, Gigi Hadid’s runway-ready rise, Scott Eastwood’s blockbuster roles, and the growing brood of celebrity mini-mes—from Yolanda Hadid’s model offspring to the next generation of Eastwoods and Hadids. Because if there’s anything we love more than stardom it’s the promise of inherited fame.
So there you have it: another gallery drop, another round of copyrighted “heartfelt” captions, and yet more proof that growing up in the spotlight is the only thing more predictable than Hollywood itself. You’re welcome.
