Nancy Meyers Stunned by Apple TV Plus Holiday Series Announcement

Hi, I’m Quinn Parker and when I learned Nancy Meyers was blindsided by the Apple TV Plus “The Holiday” series announcement I nearly spilled my coffee.
I have THOUGHTS and FEELINGS and we need to talk about this.
Nancy Meyers confirmed that the news about a new limited series based on her 2006 holiday romcom landed on her radar only when she scrolled through Instagram. She reshared a Hollywood Reporter article on her Instagram story with the blunt caption “News to me”, making it clear that she had zero heads up from Apple TV Plus.
The original film written and directed by Meyers starred Kate Winslet as Iris and Cameron Diaz as Amanda, two women who swap homes in California and London over Christmas. Along the way they find romance with Jack Black and Jude Law, creating one of the most beloved festive feel good movies of the twenty first century.
Deadline first reported that Meyers is not attached to the series adaptation and that Apple TV Plus is already auditioning big name actresses to fill those iconic roles. According to Entertainment Weekly, digital creator Krissie Ducker is set to write and executive produce, with comedian and writer Rob Delaney on board as a consultant.
Believe it or not Meyers already quashed sequel reports in 2022 when she saw a Daily Mail headline claiming the original cast was reuniting. She posted a screenshot on Instagram and wrote “So many DMs about this. Sorry but it’s not true” with a little heart emoji.
Fast forward to last year and Meyers and Jude Law had lunch to celebrate Law’s Walk of Fame star. She posted video of their reunion on Instagram and cheekily asked him if there might be a “Holiday” sequel. Law feigned suspense and even whipped out a napkin mask to reenact his Mr Napkin Head gag from the film.
In an interview with E! News, Law admitted he would welcome a sequel only if Meyers is leading the project. He praised her unique aesthetic and storytelling voice, adding that it would be fascinating to check back in on those two couples years down the road.
This whole situation has me jittery on my third espresso because how do you reboot a classic without its mastermind on board Fun fact Every Meyers film feels like stepping into a warm, perfectly styled snow globe and fans will definitely notice if the creator is missing from the director’s chair.
Stay tuned because whether Apple TV Plus snaps Meyers up or forges ahead without her vision, this developing story is sure to rattle the holly jolly tree. Okay I need to calm down after that!
