Morgan Stewart Mourns Brother’s Sudden Passing at 45

Morgan Stewart Mourns Brother’s Sudden Passing at 45
  • PublishedJuly 16, 2025

Let the words flow like a gentle lament as we gather to honor a life gone too soon and capture the fragile beauty of memory. Morgan Stewart, known for her infectious energy on screen and her warmth off it, shared on July 16 that her older brother, Oliver, passed away the night before, very unexpectedly. At 45 years old, he succumbed to a random case of pneumonia, leaving behind a constellation of music, laughter, and unspoken melodies.

Oliver was more than a sibling; he was a creative spirit with a wicked sense of humor and a brilliant mind. Morgan, who turned to Instagram to deliver the news, described him as “musical, creative, funny, and wickedly smart—he was also a Leo.” He would have celebrated his 46th birthday on July 26 in Switzerland, where he had built a quieter life away from the bright lights of Los Angeles.

Behind those public moments lay a deeper story of resilience. Oliver lived with schizophrenia, a struggle he and Morgan spoke about only occasionally and always with love. Morgan recalled on her Instagram that her mother, Susan, refused to call them half-siblings; she insisted on brother and sister, no qualifiers allowed. That maternal insistence forged a bond that transcended any label.

Just weeks before his passing, Morgan spent time with Oliver in Switzerland, revisiting childhood memories and talking about their late father, Herb Stewart, who died in October 2023. They celebrated their grandmother’s remarkable 99th and then 100th birthdays together, weaving new memories even as they honored the old. In those moments, laughter rolled through mountain air, and music echoed in hotel halls—testaments to the bond that no illness could break.

In her first of three notes, Morgan addressed her followers with urgency and grace. She urged everyone to stop forcing relationships that drain the soul and to focus instead on fulfilling individual potential. “Tomorrow is absolutely not promised,” she wrote, reminding us all that time is the most precious currency.

Her second note, delivered to her mother, was a masterclass in love and admiration. “You are the epitome of strength, class, and grace,” Morgan wrote. She vowed to stand by Susan’s side as she navigates the loss of her only son less than two years after losing her husband of four decades.

Morgan’s public openness about Oliver’s mental health dates back to her Rich Kids of Beverly Hills days in 2014. At that time, she revealed that he was diagnosed with schizophrenia at 22, when she was just 15. He had retreated from the world, and the voices began before he and their mother sought treatment and a calmer environment in Switzerland.

Grief, like music, has its own key and tempo, shifting between sorrow and celebration. Morgan concludes her tribute in fragments of poetry and pain: “I didn’t think I could break. But today, I am broken.” And so, the final chord rings out, bittersweet and tender, leaving us suspended between loss and the promise of memory.

And so the tale concludes in a hush of heartfelt echoes, drifting into memory.
