Met Gala Eve Sparkles: Taraji P. Henson & Colman Domingo Lead Star-Studded Lineup
  • PublishedMay 6, 2025

Meh, Met Gala Eve was basically a celebrity scavenger hunt in NYC and beyond. The night kicked off at Seven24 Collective on May 4, where Met Gala co-chair Colman Domingo linked up with power player Taraji P. Henson (courtesy of Zeus Views). They posed alongside Wayman and Micah, turning the pre-Gala buzz into its own runway moment. Meanwhile, down in Miami, our unexpected duo of the weekend—Orlando Bloom and Jamie Foxx—were spotted trading laughs at the Raising Cane’s F1 Miami Suite, proof that horsepower and Hollywood horsepower go hand in hand (Raising Cane’s).

Back in Manhattan, Marisa Tomei glowed at the 40th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards inside NYU’s Skirball Center, her smile as bright as her ensemble (Bruce Glikas/WireImage). Over at The Barrymore Theatre, Debbie Allen, Benedict Cumberbatch and Kerry Washington snapped a backstage selfie during Othello’s Broadway run, serving us major “squad goals” energy (WireImage). Rain or shine, Kendall Jenner rocked a blue trench coat on her way to the Met Gala prep on Monday—umbrella optional but style mandatory (TheStewartofNY/GC Images).

Tyla turned heads in an orange-patterned ensemble with a matching hat as she strolled through the city, proof that color blocking will never go out of vogue. Meanwhile, Nina Dobrev kept it refreshingly casual with a bottle of Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% at the F1 Grand Prix in Miami (Peroni Nastro Azzurro). Legends 50 Cent and Cuba Gooding Jr. scored primo seats at Rana Daggubati’s Loca Loka Miami Race Week dinner on May 3, while Dave Matthews hit the stage for a Wells Fargo credit card–exclusive concert in Houston on May 2.

On the hospitality front, Chanel Iman and NFL star Davon Godchaux sipped iced Chivas Regal in the Regal Club at F1 Miami, and Queen celebrant Lisa Lu finally got her Hollywood Walk of Fame star, surrounded by Ming-Na Wen, Kieu Chinh, Janet Yang, Awkwafina and Tamlyn Tomita (Variety via Getty). Katharine McPhee lent her vocals to the Alzheimer’s Association Gala in L.A., and Kandi Burruss shimmered in gray at the Lortel Awards in NYC.

Over in civic activism, Tayshia Adams and Busy Philipps hit the Empire State Building rooftop for City Harvest’s “Share Lunch Fight Hunger” campaign, proving philanthropic moments can double as photo ops. Karrueche Tran braved pre-Gala crowds at the Mark Hotel, and Tyler Hoechlin kept it laid-back in a white T-shirt at the Amex & Carbone Beach event during F1 Miami. Across the pond, the Cambridge kids—Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis—joined William and Kate for VE Day’s 80th anniversary in London.

Finally, pre-party snapshots of Sabrina Carpenter at Moda Operandi’s cocktail bash, Lady Gaga donning Brazilian-flag hues in Rio, Cynthia Erivo in a sharp suit at UTA’s Pre-Met Soirée, Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford at Paramount+’s FYC event, Natasha Lyonne’s casual Upper East Side cap moment, and Lenny Kravitz jamming gave us full-spectrum celebrity coverage. Anyway, that’s the deal. Do with it what you will.
