Megan Thee Stallion Commands Met Gala 2025 in Sparkling Silver and Fur

Megan Thee Stallion Commands Met Gala 2025 in Sparkling Silver and Fur
  • PublishedMay 5, 2025

Brace yourselves: the Met Gala’s latest embodiment of excess has arrived in the form of Megan Thee Stallion’s shimmering comeback. After skipping the event for three straight years—as if cultural self-immolation needed another star—Megan, 30, sashayed onto the 2025 red carpet in a body-hugging silver sequin gown by Michael Kors. The sweetheart neckline and thigh-high slit screamed “I own this apocalypse,” while the extravagant white fur coat with a lengthy train looked like a luxury bunker against common sense. Topping off the look, her hair was sculpted into giant knots morphing into a long ponytail streaked with jewels, because why stop at one form of optical trauma? Diamond studs and long silver nails completed the ensemble, ensuring no dollar was left unburned.

Designer Michael Kors flanked her in a straightforward black tailored suit, bow tie and those signature dark shades, as if to remind us that behind every blinding couture moment is a scheming stylist counting profits. This year’s theme, “Tailored for You,” took a backseat to sheer spectacle—though Megan did manage to slip in thematic accessories nodding to the Costume Institute’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibit. Curator Andrew Bolton and guest curator Monica L. Miller might have hoped for an academic dive into Black dandyism, but all anyone will remember is the flash of sequins and fur that cost more than my rent.

The 2025 gala was co-chaired by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James as honorary chair, turning the Metropolitan Museum of Art into a feel-good PR playground. Simone Biles, Doechii, Spike Lee and Usher fretted over platform heights backstage, while I fretted over the carbon footprint of these runway theatrics.

If you recall Megan’s 2022 Met moment—a head-to-toe gold Moschino look with literal wings and a thigh slit that defied gravity—you know this isn’t a one-off disaster. In her own words, “I feel like I’m gold anyway,” which translates roughly to “I’m here to remind you how bankrupt reality is.” That head-to-head collaboration with Jeremy Scott came together in a week—no small feat when you’re manufacturing cultural delusion at warp speed.

So here we are, applauding another round of couture-induced déjà vu while the world grinds on under less sparkling conditions. Bookmark this for inevitable “I told you so” when the next Met Gala rolls around and we wonder how it could possibly top this level of absurdity.
