Lizzo Playfully Roasts Sydney Sweeney’s American Eagle Jeans Backlash in New Track

Lizzo Playfully Roasts Sydney Sweeney’s American Eagle Jeans Backlash in New Track
  • PublishedAugust 7, 2025

Quinn Parker here, and I am positively vibrating on espresso fumes, so buckle up. Today we are diving head first into the delicious mayhem of Lizzo’s latest musical mic drop where she name checks Sydney Sweeney’s denim drama and serves it all with a side of platinum blonde sass.

Okay so let me tell you this is WILD Lizzo, the four time Grammy darling, just teased a snippet of her new song “I’m Goin’ In Till October” with an Instagram video that has fans freaking out. In that clip she is rocking sky high denim shorts – yes those tight American Eagle style riffs – twerking like a boss up against a red Porsche. And then bam she drops the line about Sydney Sweeney’s jeans fiasco.

In case you have been living under a rock, Sweeney, the 27 year old Euphoria star, starred in American Eagle’s fall denim campaign that raised eyebrows when critics accused the ad of having Nazi propaganda vibes. Some observers took issue with the “great jeans” tagline, alleging a hidden racial nod. American Eagle swiftly released a statement defending the creative concept, insisting the whole point was to celebrate “jeans. Her jeans. Her narrative.” The brand doubled down and said they would “continue to honor the unique ways everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence.”

But social feeds burned up with debate. Thousands weighed in on Twitter and Instagram, tearing at every syllable of the wordplay. Meanwhile, Sweeney herself has maintained radio silence about the controversy, leaving Americans, press and fans to argue over the intentions behind those four simple words.

Back to Lizzo. She teased her streaming audience with these lyrics: “No kizzy – He ain’t got no business being with me. Fat ass pretty face with the t-ties – Bitch I got good jeans like I’m Sydney.” And just like that she turned a public backlash into fodder for a new anthem. The clip’s caption read IM GOIN IN TILL OCTOBER.

This move did two things. One it reminded everyone that Lizzo is more than ready to riff on pop culture flashpoints. Two it gave the American Eagle story fresh oxygen just weeks after former President Donald Trump weighed in, calling the original Sweeney ad “fantastic” once he discovered she is a registered Republican voter. Trump’s comment spiked even more chatter, proving that political leanings and denim fit can collide in the most unexpected ways.

Now we wait to hear the full song when it drops, because if the teaser is any indication, Lizzo has turned one actress’s skinny jeans stir into her own party starter. Stay tuned and prepare your playlists.

Okay I need to calm down after that whirlwind.
