Laundrie Family Lawyer Dismisses Gabby Petito Doc, Calls It a Rehash

Laundrie Family Lawyer Dismisses Gabby Petito Doc, Calls It a Rehash
  • PublishedFebruary 18, 2025

So, the much-anticipated Netflix documentary about Gabby Petito has dropped, and you know what? According to Steven Bertolino, the attorney representing Brian Laundrie’s parents, Chris and Roberta, it’s nothing but déjà vu wrapped in a new package. He tells TMZ that the film does little more than rehash the same narratives we’ve heard in media and courtroom drama. Bertolino likens the entire debacle to the political tug-of-war between Republicans and Democrats. Each side thinks they’re on the moral high ground, leading to an endless cycle of “my truth” versus “your truth” – classic right?

But let’s dig deeper, shall we? Bertolino isn’t just some squeaky wheel making noise. He asserts that the documentary is riddled with inaccuracies, messed-up timelines, and other “twisted facts” – possibly intentional, or maybe it’s just shoddy filmmaking? He emphasizes that while it’s widely accepted that Brian took Gabby’s life in late August 2021 and subsequently ended his own life, there’s still that pesky little detail that the Laundries have faced no criminal charges regarding the circumstances around Gabby’s tragic death.

On the flip side, Gabby’s family is moving forward, having settled an emotional distress lawsuit with the Laundries back in February 2024. But, spoiler alert: the terms of the agreement are still under wraps, making us all wonder what’s actually happening behind the scenes.

Bertolino urges the public to give both families some space to grieve away from the media circus. After all, isn’t it time for everyone involved to try some peace and quiet instead of a continuous cycle of drama? While the doc might aim to provide closure or fresh insight, the courtroom battle over varying narratives continues to be a hot topic, underscoring the sensational nature of true crime narratives in pop culture today.

In a world obsessed with unfolding mysteries and courtroom reveals, it seems like the only thing we really unearthed from this doc is the same old story, just remixed and filtered for Netflix.
