Kurt Sutter Cringes Watching Stepson Jackson White in ‘Tell Me Lies’

Kurt Sutter, the mastermind behind “Sons of Anarchy,” has found himself in a bit of an awkward family situation with his stepson, Jackson White, who’s been making waves as Stephen DeMarco in Hulu’s hit show “Tell Me Lies.” On a recent episode of Rachel Bilson and Olivia Allen’s Broad Ideas podcast, Sutter admitted that tuning into the thrilling series isn’t exactly a family bonding experience. With Jackson, 28, sharing steamy scenes alongside his real-life girlfriend, Grace Van Patten, it’s a bit too much for Sutter, who jokingly remarked, “You don’t wanna watch them, like, make out? That’s exactly why I tend to avoid the show.” Who could blame him, right?
Despite Sutter’s self-imposed viewing ban, he has good things to say about the series, dubbing it to have a “great soap quality” and acknowledging the successful run of its first two seasons, with a third season already in the works. White is set to return alongside Van Patten, both of whom are 28. Not one to shy away from the ups and downs of behind-the-scenes drama, White spilled some juicy tidbits on family podcast “Slice of Pie,” revealing that he was once told he wasn’t “thrusting right” during a particularly awkward filming moment. Talk about a mother-son bond gone wild!
Interestingly enough, the shooting process for the series entails what Jackson humorously referred to as a “sex week,” where all the steamy scenes are concentrated around the availability of an intimacy coordinator. Given the series’ penchant for dramatic romance and tension, it’s clear the days overlap for many couples on set!
As for Sutter, it seems he might have caught a glimpse or two of the series, as his wife Katey Sagal, who he married in 2004, also stars in “Tell Me Lies” as White’s onscreen mom. Previously, Sagal had advised Jackson to grow up before pursuing acting, which he respected until he turned 18. It’s a family affair tinged with cringeworthy moments that he’d probably prefer to skip!
If you’re in the mood for some binge-watching, both seasons of “Tell Me Lies” are streaming on Hulu, so grab your popcorn and prepare for all the fiery drama wrapped up in a neat little package.
