Kody Brown Admits He and Ex Christine Have Zero Chances of Friendship

Look, I don’t want to be the one to say it, but brace yourself: Kody Brown has officially declared that any warm-and-fuzzy reunion with ex-wife Christine Brown is off the table. During the June 15 finale of Sister Wives’ four-part tell-all, the patriarch sighed through an interview with host Sukanya Krishnan to explain why he “doubts” he and Christine will ever be friends—six kids or not. He even admitted there’s “a different level of animosity for some reason” lingering between them. Frankly, it sounds like he’d rather swap holiday cookies with strangers than grab coffee with his former spouse.
Kody’s current wife, Robyn, has been on full pep-squad duty, reminding him that co-parenting Aspyn, Mykelti, Paedon, Gwendlyn, Ysabel and Truely creates an unbreakable bond. But Kody’s eyes rolled so hard you could almost hear them clatter: “I don’t see the point of ever having a relationship,” he grumbled. And in a bold forecast, he predicted Christine’s new husband, David Woolley—married in 2023—wouldn’t be championing a kumbaya moment either. “I don’t think David would be wise to ever advocate that Christine and I sit down,” Kody scoffed. Charming.
Rewinding to their split after 25 years together, Christine reportedly told him she had “no respect” left—and Kody’s response was that he’d been merely counterpunching as she “got mean” first. He insists he “didn’t start out being mean to any of them,” but once the exes stormed off, he felt compelled to fight back. His parting advice? “Move on and be happy.” Could have saved ink on those holiday cards, right?
Christine, 53, also spilled her side during the June 8 episode. She described intimacy in her Brown marriage as “just an act” with “no real emotion” or romance—physical, financial or otherwise. Fast-forward to February 2023 and Christine’s Instagram glow-up: she gushed that David “held me close like my soul took its first breath.” He’s “incredible with my children and an adorable grandpa,” she wrote. A stark contrast to her 25-year mirage of marriage.
Meanwhile, Meri Brown—another of Kody’s exes—chalked up her 2023 divorce to the same lack of honest communication. She revealed that Kody dangled promises of a fresh start after their 2018 move to Flagstaff, only to retreat once he realized he’d have to actually court her again. Meri’s friends “were like, ‘It’s about damn time,’” she confided, finally empowered after years of mixed signals. She’s convinced Kody wanted her to leave on her own so he wouldn’t be the bad guy. Classic.
Did anyone expect a truce? No? Thought so. And that, dear reader, is why we can’t have nice things.
