Katy Perry Fan Collapses Onstage At Detroit Lifetimes Tour Concert

Katy Perry Fan Collapses Onstage At Detroit Lifetimes Tour Concert
  • PublishedAugust 4, 2025

During the Detroit stop of her Lifetimes Tour, Katy Perry faced a tense moment when a young fan fainted onstage in front of 13,000 concertgoers.

Hi, I’m Riley Carter, your casually cool celeb correspondent.

Okay, so like… why did this stage surprise have everyone buzzing?

Katy Perry, 40, invited four enthusiastic fans to join her during the piano breakdown of her 2011 hit The One That Got Away at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday night. She handed each guest a silver shaker, only to see one of them, a girl named McKenna, collapse without warning during the opening notes.

In clips circulating on TikTok and Twitter, Perry immediately drops to her knees and signals for help as on-site EMTs and venue staff rush the stage. The packed arena erupted in chants of “McKenna,” showing solidarity until medics escorted her away. Fans quickly tagged #McKennaStrong on social feeds, and the video reached thousands of views within minutes.

Once McKenna was safely offstage, Perry turned to the remaining three guests and led a heartfelt group prayer. According to Billboard, she said, “Dear God, we pray for McKenna, that she will come back fully and brighter and better than ever. Amen.” She acknowledged how overwhelming it can be to face thousands of eyes at once.

Perry later told Billboard that fan safety is her top priority and praised her team’s swift reaction. Crew members and the arena’s medical staff worked seamlessly to ensure McKenna got immediate care backstage.

After the quick prayer, Perry returned to finish The One That Got Away and gently guided the other three visitors offstage. She then reassured the crowd later in the show, announcing, “McKenna’s doing great, by the way.” Following her performance of Roar, she shouted McKenna’s name again, keeping the mood triumphant.

That Detroit drama adds to an already eventful tour. On July 18 in San Francisco, Perry’s massive butterfly prop malfunctioned midair during the “Firework” segment, briefly leaving her suspended. Fans on Twitter said the scare lasted only seconds but felt much longer, underscoring how Perry stayed cool under pressure.

Meanwhile, offstage buzz has been just as loud. While in Montreal, Perry was spotted having dinner with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and later saw him at her Belle Centre show on July 30. People reports insiders felt an “instant connection,” though both stars remain noncommittal amid busy lives.

This Canadian visit came months after Perry and Orlando Bloom ended their nearly decade-long engagement. The exes, who share four-year-old daughter Daisy Dove, have stayed amicable as Perry tours the globe.

The Lifetimes Tour launched on April 23 in Mexico City and will wrap on December 7 in Abu Dhabi, with stops across North America, Europe and Asia. Fans can expect bespoke stage sets, aerial stunts and interactive moments—plus the occasional unexpected twist.

Anyway, that’s the scoop. Do with it what you will.
