Jenelle Evans Reunites with Son Jace Back in North Carolina for 11th Grade

Jenelle Evans Reunites with Son Jace Back in North Carolina for 11th Grade
  • PublishedJuly 18, 2025

In the pantheon of must-see updates, this one might just top the charts: Teen Mom alum Jenelle Evans is once again playing landlord to her eldest child, Jace. Two months after announcing that the 15-year-old had packed his bags for Florida to live with his father, Andrew Lewis, Evans confirmed in a People interview published July 18 that Jace has rolled back up to her North Carolina doorstep. “He’s doing good, he’s back at home, he’s not living with his father,” she deadpanned, as if swapping teen residences were just another line item on her to-do list.

Evans says Jace has been home “for a few months now” and is about to embark on the thrilling adventure of 11th grade. The teenager, who turns 16 in August, has discovered a passion for skateboarding, much to his mom’s amused reflection on the passage of time. “It’s really crazy because you see the transition from a little boy to a young man,” she noted dryly, reminding us that the teenage years do indeed fly by – even when they come with uprooted living arrangements and grade promotions.

This family shuffle follows a May TikTok announcement in which Evans revealed that she felt compelled to send Jace temporarily to his father’s house due to ongoing behavioral issues. Diagnosed with ADHD, major depressive disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder, Jace had allegedly been acting out in ways that left both Evans and her mother, Barbara, feeling that intervention was overdue. “With defiant disorder, it’s very hard to deal with,” Jenelle admitted, spotlighting the mental health struggles at play. She insisted that the move was a proactive effort to protect her two younger children, Kaiser and Ensley, and to give Jace a fresh start away from the chaos.

Despite critics questioning her parenting choices, Evans doubled down: “Being a mother is doing what’s in the best interest of your child, and I am doing the best interest for my child.” While she declined to parade her son’s diagnosis in front of the media, she made clear that multiple incidents over the years forced her hand. The real goal, she said, was forging a cooperative co-parenting dynamic with both sides of the family before Jace “turns 18 and decides to leave.”

In between skateboarding sessions and school preparations, Evans has been busy with her younger brood. Easter festivities, a ski trip, a dip in a local lake, Halloween costumes featuring Coraline and Freddy Krueger, and a family vacation in Puerto Rico have all kept her Instagram feed lively. Through it all, she’s captioned images with wistful observations like “He’s almost taller than me #GrowingUp,” reminding fans that even reality TV stars grapple with adolescence.

Stick around for the next chapter of this reality saga—will Jace land a kickflip or just a trip back to Florida again? Tune in next time for more confirmed facts and just enough dry humor to keep the absurdity alive.
