Jen Affleck’s Postpartum Secrets: How She Balances Three Kids and DWTS

I’m Jordan Collins, your go-to guide for all things celebrity, and I’m here to break down the latest scoop on Jen Affleck’s postpartum journey. Let’s get one thing straight: balancing three kids under three and a nationally televised dancing competition is no easy feat.
Jen Affleck, the 26-year-old star of “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” recently welcomed her third child, Penelope, with husband Zach. Just nine weeks postpartum, Jen is gearing up for her “Dancing With the Stars” debut, and she’s sharing her top tips for navigating pregnancy and postpartum life.
When it comes to prioritizing self-care during pregnancy, Jen emphasizes the importance of “taking time for myself.” This includes exercise, resting, and “not being hard on myself for that.” As she puts it, “Having babies is a beautiful thing, but it’s also one of the hardest things you’ll ever do. And I feel like as moms, if you don’t take that time for yourself, it’s actually a disservice not only to yourself but to your kids.”
One of Jen’s top pregnancy must-haves is a pregnancy pillow, which helps her get comfortable at night. She’s also a fan of Bio-Oil, which she used throughout all of her pregnancies to reduce stretch marks and hydrate her skin. “I definitely think it helped not only hydrate my skin, but I think it also helped prevent me from getting stretch marks,” she says.
As a busy mom of three, Jen knows that balance is key. “Dancing, dancing with my kids, dancing a lot. I do that a lot,” she reveals. “I think balance is everything, and so I always try to make that my focus.” This means exercising and eating healthy, but not obsessing over specific things.
Home life has been a bit of an adjustment since Penelope’s arrival, but Jen’s husband Zach has been stepping up to help with kid duty. With their first two kids, Nora and Lucas, Zach was in school, but this time around, he’s taking on more of the morning shift. “Because he was in school with my first two, I didn’t have that luxury [to sleep in] – I was basically in survival mode, I basically had to do everything,” Jen explains. “But because he wasn’t in school with the third baby, I was like – you take the morning shift.”
As Jen prepares for her DWTS debut, she’s focusing on getting her beauty sleep and taking care of her skin. She’s partnering with Bio-Oil on a new campaign, which features products to reduce stretch marks and scars. With her signature blend of humor and humility, Jen is dishing out advice and inspiration to moms everywhere.
