Grace Kelly’s Granddaughter Channels Rear Window Elegance at Monaco Gala

Grace Kelly’s Granddaughter Channels Rear Window Elegance at Monaco Gala
  • PublishedJuly 15, 2025

Grab your extra-foamy latte because I have so much to spill on this one about Hollywood royalty meets modern fashion bliss. On July 12 at the Monaco Red Cross Gala, Camille Gottlieb, the 27-year-old granddaughter of the legendary Grace Kelly, stepped into the spotlight wearing an updated nod to her grandmother’s iconic Rear Window dress. Movie buffs will recall that Kelly first dazzled in Edith Head’s Oscar-winning costume at the 1955 premiere before she left Hollywood for royal life.

Gottlieb’s version, custom made by Italian designer Elisabetta Franchi, features a sleek black off-shoulder bodice paired with a voluminous white tulle skirt, a clear tribute to the original silhouette. Instead of the hand-stitched ivy embroidery that graced Kelly’s movie frock, this modern take boasts a delicate vine of clear gemstones encircling the waist. The gemstones catch the flash of every camera, echoing the timeless elegance that made Kelly a style icon.

No tribute to Grace would be complete without a nod to her famous jewelry. Camille accessorized with diamond drop earrings and a matching Cartier pendant choker—the same maison that crafted the engagement ring Rainier III slipped onto Kelly’s finger in 1956. The young royal took to Instagram on July 13 to thank Franchi for bringing this vision to life, writing, “I was able to pay tribute to my grandmother with this beautiful dress.”

Camille arrived arm in arm with her brother Louis Ducruet and his wife Marie Ducruet at the charity event. The Red Cross of Monaco holds deep roots for the family. Prince Rainier III served as its president from 1949 to 1958 and upon his marriage to Kelly, she succeeded him in the role until her tragic death in a 1982 car accident. Kelly suffered a stroke while driving with Princess Stéphanie and the vehicle plunged off a cliff at Mont Agel. Rainier never remarried and when he passed in 2005, his remains were laid to rest beside Kelly’s in Monaco.

Reflecting on the family resemblance, Camille recently told French publication Gala that people told her from a young age that she looked like her grandmother and that this compliment remains one of the best she could receive. The moment pays homage to both a beloved screen legend and a cherished family legacy.

Meanwhile, E! Online’s top stories also spilled some surprising Hollywood family tree gossip. Genealogy sleuths on Finding Your Roots revealed that Lena Dunham and Larry David share a distant ancestor. Instagram genealogist My Family Genie traced a 1600s link between Stassi Schroeder and Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Antonio Banderas got emotional as a stepdad to Dakota Johnson at the 2019 Hollywood Film Awards. And did you know half-sisters Robyn and Blake Lively share the same mom? Hollywood’s a small world when you start digging into those birth certificates.

My coffee buzz is peaking so I’ll pause here—but mark my words, this sparkling tribute is one for the history books.
