Gigi Gorgeous Confronts Breakdown After Divorce

Another day, another influencer moment – Gigi Gorgeous gave real talk about a major breakdown while setting up her camera in the days after announcing her split from Nats Getty. By Riley Carter
Giselle Loren Lazzarato, known to millions as Gigi Gorgeous, revealed on July 19 at the Create & Cultivate festival in Los Angeles that she hit a wall when filming a routine video. She shared that she had just endured a huge life change – her divorce from Getty heir Nats Getty – and suddenly found herself unable to shake the pressure. “I was trying to film a video yesterday – I just had a huge life change in my life – tried to film the video, set up the lights, set up the camera, and then I had a breakdown,” she said, per E! News. She admitted she wondered in that moment, “What is going on with me?”
The 33 year old influencer, who married Getty in Montecito, California, in 2019, noted that living life on camera can feel far from glamorous when emotions run high. She described the struggle to stay fearless under public scrutiny. “You just need to keep reminding yourself to stay fearless, because you’re always more worried about what people think of you than they really even care about,” Gigi explained during the panel, according to E! News. She warned of getting stuck in a “warp cycle” of anxiety that can spiral on social platforms.
To combat that cycle, Gigi said she introduced a strict new rule for her inner dialogue. “I stopped talking bad about myself, to myself,” she confessed. Whenever negative thoughts creep in – “I am ugly, I am stupid” – she pauses and replaces them with affirmations like “I am a prize, I am special”. This shift, she said, has boosted her mood and helped her retrain her mind toward self worth on days when confidence feels flat.
Gigi first announced her decision to part ways with Getty on July 3. A representative confirmed that the split was amicable and that the former couple still hold deep respect for each other. Getty listed irreconcilable differences in the divorce filing, marking the end of nearly six years of marriage. Despite the separation, both have committed to remaining friends and supporting each other’s journeys.
This year has seen other high profile splits that have motivated fresh starts. Model and reality star Blac Chyna and rapper Derrick Milano called off their nine month engagement on July 3, citing prayer and reflection. Actress Denise Richards and TV personality Aaron Phypers confirmed their divorce filing on July 7, listing irreconcilable differences and setting their split date as July 4. And Love Is Blind alum Chelsea Blackwell revealed her breakup with Tim Teeter at the end of June due to differing priorities.
While breakups can feel like an end point, Gigi’s approach underlines a sense of renewal. By laying down the law on negative self talk and embracing an “I don’t give a f–k” mentality, she’s redefining what resilience looks like when your life is broadcast to millions. Her message is clear: healing can be public and imperfect and still empower you to own your next chapter.
Anyway, that’s the take. Do with it what you will.
