Frozen Mac and Cheese Fuels ‘The Hunting Wives’ Frenzy

Frozen Mac and Cheese Fuels ‘The Hunting Wives’ Frenzy
  • PublishedAugust 4, 2025

I’m Riley Carter, serving up your latest pop culture pulse with zero fuss. Okay, but like, why is a box of macaroni setting the internet ablaze?

Fans of Netflix’s buzzy murder drama The Hunting Wives have zeroed in on what they call a glaring continuity goof in episode 1. A TikTok clip that racked up thousands of views shows Sophie (played by Brittany Snow) opening her fridge—only to reveal a box of Kraft mac and cheese chilling in the freezer section. The oddball placement had viewers double-taking and buzzing about the production slip.

“Of all the things that shocked me about The Hunting Wives, this is the part that really had me shook,” one TikTok user declared on Saturday, prompting fellow sleuths to dive into frame-by-frame analysis. Comments poured in from people confessing they’d been “waiting for someone else to bring this up,” while others quipped that not even Martha Stewart would freeze instant mac and cheese.

Still, some eagle-eyed defenders pointed out that Kraft does actually produce frozen dinner lines, suggesting this might be sly product placement rather than a wardrobe-style stunt. That argument drew in brand loyalists who flagged the official Kraft website, which lists frozen variants alongside pantry staples.

Streaming now, The Hunting Wives adapts the 2021 novel that pulls viewers into an elite Texas enclave. Sophie uproots her life from Massachusetts when her husband’s job relocates them, only to get tangled in the social web woven by Margo Banks (Malin Akerman), the local Queen Bee. Margo presides over a clique of wealthy moms who love shooting guns, dancing with men half their age, and keeping secrets that could kill.

Veteran actor Dermot Mulroney, who plays Margo’s husband Jed, told The Post that the series is loaded with “love affairs and naughty sex,” setting off a wildfire of gossip about on-screen chemistry. And according to showrunner Rebecca Cutter, that was the plan: “I wanted an unapologetic look at women behaving badly, sexy conquest running rampant, and just something fun.”

Behind the scenes, Malin Akerman says the vibe was pure giggle-fest. She told The Post that she and Brittany Snow clicked instantly and spent takes sharing “school girl” laughs over the steamy scenes. “We felt so comfortable with each other,” Akerman said, adding that it’s rare to find that kind of off-camera trust when you’re firing blanks and filming love scenes.

As viewers cling to every frame, TikTokers are moving from fridge fails to full-blown theories about who will get whacked next. Some are calling the show “insane” and claiming it’s the wildest Netflix drop of the season.

Whether you chalk the frozen mac and cheese up to product placement or a genuine blunder, The Hunting Wives is delivering drama on and off screen. Okay cool, so like, yeah, that happened.
