From Feces to Freedom: Pit Bulls Pulled from Horror Home

From Feces to Freedom: Pit Bulls Pulled from Horror Home
  • PublishedFebruary 25, 2025

In a scene straight out of a horror flick, two pit bulls named Princess and Koda were rescued from what can only be described as a “House of Horrors” in Brentwood, NY. The Suffolk County SPCA swooped in on February 19th, after reports surfaced about neglectful living conditions that had detectives practically gagging on the noxious fumes emanating from the home. According to their press release, the dogs were discovered in a nightmarish setting filled with garbage, feces, and an overwhelming stench of rot and ammonia that caused investigators to cough and gag just stepping inside (seriously, how could anyone live like that?).

The dog’s owner, 48-year-old Stacy Zimmer, found herself in a heap of trouble, facing multiple charges, including animal cruelty and drug-related offenses. Authorities allegedly discovered crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia during their grim investigation, further painting a picture of the home’s dire conditions. As if living amid flies and filth weren’t bad enough, the residence has been deemed unfit for human occupancy by the Town of Smithtown Code Enforcement and has since been boarded up—good riddance!

Fortunately, Princess and Koda are now on their way to happier days. They’ve been reported as not malnourished but in desperate need of a good grooming (who wouldn’t be after living in a pigsty?). And while SPCA officials are buzzing with excitement about their rescue, the dogs are currently awaiting their forever homes at Islip Animal Shelter. News 12 adds that the shelter is a safe haven for the two rascals, and they will soon be available for adoption.

While Zimmer has been released and is scheduled for a court appearance on March 7, it’s safe to say that she won’t be winning any “Pet Owner of the Year” awards anytime soon. Instead, it’s Princess and Koda who are stealing the spotlight and prepping for their next chapter—the kind that includes belly rubs, warm beds, and a life free of ammonia-induced gagging. So if you’re looking to adopt and add some furry love to your life, keep an eye out for these resilient pups ready to bounce back from their trauma!
