Fans Can’t Wait for Colleen Hoover’s “Regretting You” Adaptation Starring Allison Williams and Scott Eastwood
  • PublishedMarch 19, 2025

Colleen Hoover’s 2019 novel *Regretting You* is finally getting the Hollywood treatment, and if the cast list is any indication, this adaptation is poised to be a tearjerker with a side of star power. Directed by Josh Boone, the man behind *The Fault in Our Stars*, the film promises to deliver a mother-daughter drama that’s equal parts heartbreak and healing. Allison Williams takes on the role of Morgan Grant, a woman whose life unravels after a tragic car accident, while McKenna Grace plays her teenage daughter Clara, who’s grappling with her own grief and resentment. Add Scott Eastwood and Dave Franco to the mix, and you’ve got a recipe for a cinematic emotional rollercoaster.

The story, for those who haven’t devoured Hoover’s book, revolves around Morgan and Clara as they navigate the fallout of losing two family members in a car crash. The tragedy unearths buried secrets, forcing the duo to confront their fractured relationship. Grace, who plays Clara, has already teased the complexity of her character, describing her as “angry” but ultimately growing closer to her mother. Meanwhile, Williams’ Morgan is the epitome of a woman who’s sacrificed her dreams for her family—only to have her world turned upside down.

Filming kicked off in Atlanta in March 2025, a departure from the book’s small-town Texas setting. Whether this change will irk die-hard Hoover fans remains to be seen, but with the author herself serving as an executive producer, it’s safe to assume the essence of the story will remain intact. Boone, no stranger to adapting beloved novels, has promised a film that will resonate with mothers and daughters alike, calling it a “classic” in the making.

As for the rest of the cast, Franco is stepping out of his comedic comfort zone to play Jonah, while Mason Thames (*How to Train Your Dragon*) takes on the role of Miller. Eastwood and Willa Fitzgerald round out the ensemble, though their characters remain shrouded in mystery. Fitzgerald’s Instagram announcement of her involvement only added to the buzz, with fans eagerly speculating about her role.

With a release date set for October 24, 2025, *Regretting You* is shaping up to be a must-watch for fans of Hoover’s emotionally charged storytelling. Whether it lives up to the hype—or becomes another forgettable adaptation—remains to be seen.

And let’s be real: if anyone can make us cry over fictional characters again, it’s Colleen Hoover.
