Elaine Hendrix Embraces ‘Ginger Twinsies’ Over FOMO

I am Maya Rivers, your humble bard of backstage secrets, weaving metaphors from even the simplest scoop. A whisper of nostalgia drifts through New York’s Orpheum Theatre as Elaine Hendrix confronts her own heartstrings in a playful parody of her most infamous role.
Elaine Hendrix, best known for her gold-digging heiress Meredith Blake in Disney’s 1998 hit The Parent Trap, admitted to The Post that she nearly felt a pang of FOMO when Kevin Zak’s off-Broadway parody Ginger Twinsies cast another actress in her signature shoes. “I was wondering, ‘Elaine, how are you going to feel? How are you going to experience this?’” Hendrix confessed, recalling the moment she learned someone else would don the black athletic gear and claw clip that defined Meredith’s camping couture.
Previews began July 10, and the show officially opened on July 24 at the Orpheum Theatre, running through October 26. Under Phillip Taratula’s surprising yet confident portrayal, Meredith Blake steps forward not as villain but as a misunderstood protagonist. Hendrix, now a producer on the project, revealed she expected to watch from the wings with envy. Yet she found herself cheering instead. “The cast is so incredible, and I just can’t imagine it with anyone else,” she said. “I like being behind the scenes.”
At the second preview night on July 11, Hendrix hosted a Meredith Blake lookalike contest, crowning a true-to-form fan clad in black activewear and a claw clip. The gesture underscored a movement that has simmered online for years: #JusticeforMeredithBlake. Millennials who grew up with the film have argued that Meredith was unfairly cast as the antagonist. Hendrix nodded to that perspective, imagining Meredith’s vindication: “‘Finally. Finally, they are understanding what I went through, what happened,’” she joked in character.
More than a nostalgic wink, Ginger Twinsies marks a return to roots for Hendrix, whose career began on stage long before she crossed into film. “This has taken me right back to my roots,” she shared. The transition from screen to stage producer has reignited her passion for live performance. Yet she admitted to a restless longing: “I’m itching to get back on stage.”
Fans eager to see that happen need not wait too long. Hendrix will star in OFC Creations Theatre Center’s production of Hello, Dolly! in Rochester, New York, from January 29 through February 15, 2026. The truth is, whether she’s behind the scenes or under the spotlight, Elaine Hendrix’s journey feels like a poetic full circle—each act building toward a standing ovation.
And so, the final bow arrives only to open the next act, as Huntington’s gold-digging ingénue finds new life in every curtain call.
