Dylan Dreyer and Brian Fichera’s Peaceful Split Explained

Dylan Dreyer and Brian Fichera’s Peaceful Split Explained
  • PublishedJuly 18, 2025

Another day, another celeb plot twist. Today co-host Dylan Dreyer and NBC News producer Brian Fichera quietly confirmed they decided to separate after 12 years of marriage in a heartfelt Instagram statement on July 18. The meteorologist, known for her warm on-air presence and weekend weather updates, thanked fans for sharing in “the highs and the lows, the ups and downs, and all of the blessings and beautiful memories” before revealing that the decision to separate happened several months ago.

Dreyer, 43, emphasized that she and Fichera, 38, started out as friends and plan to remain “the closest of friends” moving forward. Their priority, she wrote, will always be their three young sons—Calvin, 8, Oliver, 5, and Russell, 3—and co-parenting them “with nothing but love and respect.” The couple’s joint message stressed that this chapter is one of mutual understanding rather than emotional distance, and that they continue to support each other’s roles both on-screen and off.

Fans will recall that Dylan and Brian first crossed paths back in 2012 while working at a Boston news station. They fell in love amid busy schedules and soon discovered a shared passion for golf. In an interview with Today.com in 2023, Dylan laughed about their ritual: “Golf is the thing we do together. We have a couple of drinks, we laugh. We remember why we fell in love. Then we go home and it’s right back to family.” Just days before their split announcement, Dreyer even posted photos of the two on the green, proving that their courtship sport remained a joyful constant.

Open communication has also played a major role in their relationship. “My family can hold a grudge,” Dylan admitted to Today.com, recalling how they would let little frustrations linger. “Brian won’t even let me be mad for ten minutes. He’s like, ‘Please just talk to me about why you’re upset so we can go back to having fun.’” She added that when time is scarce, texting can become “an important way to get all our thoughts out without being interrupted.”

After more than a decade juggling national news responsibilities and family life, Dylan stepped back from Weekend Today last year to focus on home and hearth. “These boys are my whole life, and Brian and I love being a team on weekends, spending as much time as we can with them and having as much fun as we can,” she said in 2023. Their split announcement made it clear that while their marital chapter has closed, their commitment to family remains front and center.

Dylan and Brian now join a growing list of high-profile splits this summer, including Blac Chyna and Derrick Milano, Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers, and Gigi Gorgeous and Nats Getty, each citing mutual respect and new life directions. Though this news might catch some by surprise, it underscores how even the most solid partnerships can evolve with time, shared history and heartfelt honesty.

Anyway, that is the scoop. You do you.
