Drake vs. DeRozan: Once-Bros Face Off as Jersey Gets Tossed

Uh-oh, it looks like the bromance between Drake and NBA star DeMar DeRozan has officially hit the rocks. During a recent stop on his “Anita Max Wynn” tour in Sydney, Drake stirred up some serious drama when he casually tossed DeRozan’s jersey into the crowd after it was thrown on stage during his performance of “Rich Flex.” This was not just a harmless gesture; it sent a very clear signal that their long-standing friendship has disintegrated into a public feud.
For those who might not know, Drake and DeRozan have been tight for over 16 years, starting from when DeRozan joined the Toronto Raptors while Drake was climbing to fame with his mixtape “So Far Gone.” Their relationship was practically brotherly, peaking in 2016 when they shared a magazine cover with Kyle Lowry dubbed “6 GODS.” They even spent summers together in Los Angeles, which is no small feat when you’re a superstar and an NBA player. Back in 2021, DeRozan even declared his loyalty to the rapper on “Club Shay Shay,” promising he’d always be a friend to Drake.
But then things turned sour, and fast. The drama kicked off when DeRozan was spotted at Kendrick Lamar’s concert, grooving to “Not Like Us,” a track that’s more of a lyrical diss towards Drake. DeRozan even appeared in the music video, which set Drake off in a big way. Tension flared up at a Raptors game when Drake dropped some not-so-sweet names for DeRozan, calling him a “goof” and a “p*ssy.” Ouch! DeRozan, however, kept his cool and had a snappy comeback, saying that Drake would have a “long climb to take down a DeRozan banner”—clearly, he’s not backing down.
This rift has escalated into a spectacle right out of a reality show, with fans of both personalities eagerly speculating what went wrong. For Drake, who often uses personal relationships in his music, this could very well find its way into his lyrics. So, who’s going to throw shade next? Only time will tell, but for now, it seems like the 6 God and his former ally are officially at odds.
