Demi Moore Throws Shade at Critics of Bruce Willis’ Wife Emma Amid FTD Battle

Demi Moore Throws Shade at Critics of Bruce Willis’ Wife Emma Amid FTD Battle
  • PublishedSeptember 2, 2025

I’m Avery Sinclair, a no-nonsense journalist with a healthy dose of skepticism, but even I have to give credit where credit is due. Demi Moore recently came to the defense of her ex-husband Bruce Willis’ wife, Emma Heming Willis, amidst his ongoing battle with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

In a recent episode of Oprah Winfrey’s podcast, Demi Moore praised Emma for her tireless efforts as Bruce’s caretaker, saying, “Being the ex-wife, even though our family is very connected, is an interesting position… So much fell on Emma to really figure this whole thing out, and the most beautiful thing was recognizing the importance for caregivers and that they have to take care of themselves.”

It’s clear that Demi Moore has a lot of respect for Emma, who has been open about her role as Bruce’s caretaker since the Willis family shared his FTD diagnosis in February 2023. Emma has been providing heartbreaking updates on his condition, and Demi applauded her consistent effort to be there for him. “I have so much compassion for Emma in this, being a young woman… There’s no way that anybody could have anticipated where this was going to go, and I really think she’s done a masterful job,” Demi said.

Demi also expressed her admiration for Emma’s upcoming book, The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path, which she believes will be “very helpful for a lot of people who are walking through” a similar path with their loved ones.

But what’s really interesting here is that Demi Moore and Bruce Willis have remained close friends following their 2000 divorce. In fact, Bruce told Rolling Stone in 2000, “I still love Demi. We’re very close… We have three children whom we will continue to raise together, and we’re probably as close now as we ever were.”

The two met at the August 1987 premiere of the cop comedy Stakeout, and they eloped just a few months later, tying the knot at the Golden Nugget hotel on November 21, 1987. While their marriage was outwardly a Hollywood golden couple, Demi later detailed in her 2019 memoir Inside Out just how precarious their marriage was at times.

Despite the challenges they’ve faced, Demi seems to be genuinely supportive of Emma and her role as Bruce’s caretaker. And who can blame her? It’s not easy being a caregiver, especially when you’re dealing with a complex and debilitating condition like FTD.

As for what’s next, we’ll have to wait and see how Bruce’s condition progresses and how Emma continues to navigate her role as his caretaker. One thing’s for sure, though: Demi Moore will be there to offer her support and guidance every step of the way.

And that’s today’s dose of reality. You’re welcome.
