Conan O’Brien’s Oscar Night Shenanigans: Hall Passes and Hilarious Jokes!
Oscars 2025 brought the glamour and the giggles, and who better to hold the mic than the ever-irreverent Conan O’Brien? As the host of this year’s ceremony, Conan kicked things off with his signature style, humorously introducing his “hall pass” celebrities—none other than the fabulous Scarlett Johansson and the legendary June Squibb. The dynamic duo brought the house down with their comedic chops while presenting the award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Johansson, who’s no stranger to the Oscars with two nominations under her belt, quipped about her pre-show process, saying, “I got up at 6 a.m. just so they could do my makeup in a way that looks like I didn’t actually do my makeup.” Meanwhile, 95-year-old Squibb, a nominee back in 2014 for her role in “Nebraska,” humorously remarked on her own glam transformation, claiming, “I’m actually being played by Bill Skarsgård right now.” Now that’s a Hollywood twist we didn’t see coming!
But Conan didn’t stop there! His opening monologue was a riot, taking playful jabs at the nominated film “Emilia Pérez” and its star Karla Sofía Gascón, making light of her controversial social media history. “FYI, Anora used the F-word 479 times,” he joked, adding, “Karla, if you are going to tweet about the Oscars, remember: my name is Jimmy Kimmel.” Classic Conan!
Adam Sandler made a surprise appearance, dressed down in a hoodie and shorts, which led to a hilarious exchange about red carpet fashion. “You’re dressed like a guy playing video poker at 2 a.m.,” Conan shot back, proving that even at the Oscars, it’s all about the laughs.
