Clintons Subpoenaed in Epstein Probe: Testimony Dates and DOJ Records Demand

Clintons Subpoenaed in Epstein Probe: Testimony Dates and DOJ Records Demand
  • PublishedAugust 5, 2025

Avery Sinclair here, your no nonsense guide to the latest political theatrics. Another day, another disappointment. Let’s dive in.

A Congressional committee has issued subpoenas for Bill and Hillary Clinton, demanding their depositions in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. Rep. James Comer, chair of the House Oversight Committee, has set October 9 for Hillary’s turn and October 14 for Bill’s, according to official notices obtained by TMZ and confirmed by The Wall Street Journal.

The move comes as part of a widening probe into Epstein’s network, with Comer also pressing the Department of Justice for all relevant records. In a letter sent August 5, Comer’s office cited the need for “any and all documents related to Jeffrey Epstein’s activities” held by the DOJ. That request follows last week’s discreet interview of Epstein’s convicted co conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell, who was then quietly transferred to a lower security facility. Maxwell is serving a 20 year sentence after her December 2021 conviction on five counts, including sex trafficking of a minor.

This isn’t the first time Bill Clinton’s ties to Epstein have made headlines. In June, The Wall Street Journal reported that both Clinton and Donald Trump contributed personal messages to Epstein’s 50th birthday tribute album. Trump promptly sued the Journal, claiming defamation. Comer’s subpoena push seems calibrated to buttress a narrative that previous DOJ efforts downplayed potential high level associations.

Looking ahead, the committee has a lineup of former law enforcement heavyweights slated to testify. Ex FBI directors James Comey and Robert Mueller will appear, as will former U.S. Attorneys General Merrick Garland and Bill Barr. Each figure held sway over investigations that intersected with Epstein’s activities or the DOJ’s controversial 2019 non prosecution agreement. The oversight panel appears determined to map who knew what, and when.

With the DOJ insisting there was no client list and maintaining that Epstein’s death was self inflicted, Comer’s subpoenas could force the release of new internal memos, emails, and interview transcripts. Expect more theatrics when these high profile hearings hit prime time in October. Will any new revelations shake the beltway? Or will we get more carefully redacted lines and polite declines? Stay tuned.

And that’s today’s dose of reality. You’re welcome.
