Chilling Notebooks Unveil Minnesota Attack Plot

Chilling Notebooks Unveil Minnesota Attack Plot
  • PublishedJune 17, 2025

A hush of dread drapes the interior of a police-style SUV where leather-bound pages bled out a macabre blueprint for violence. The acting U.S. Attorney for Minnesota released haunting images of Vance Boelter’s notebooks, each margin a testament to meticulous malice. Inks pooled like dark confessions, charting websites that sold home addresses, countdowns on free trials, and target lists scrawled with surgical precision. The pages reveal the cold calculus behind an alleged campaign to ambush state and federal officials in Minnesota’s quiet neighborhoods.

These journals name more than forty-five individuals—lawmakers and bureaucrats known for supporting abortion rights—with hand-drawn maps and bullet-pointed URLs guiding the aspiring assassin. A list of sites promising unlimited details topped by trial-duration notes reads like sinister poetry. Drew Evans of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension warned that while these writings brim with twisted “thoughts,” they fall short of a grand manifesto; still, they illuminate the strategic underpinnings of what Gov. Tim Walz has decried as an assassination plot.

Beyond the ink-stained evidence, authorities uncovered a cache of five rifles—semi-automatic and assault-style among them—and enough ammunition to fuel a small war. Boelter’s Ford SUV was outfitted with flashing blue lights to impersonate law enforcement, a ruse he employed when he arrived at Representative Melissa Hortman’s Brooklyn Park home. Witnesses say he donned a police uniform before firing upon Hortman and her husband, Mark, then unleashing rounds into their residence. The couple’s tragic deaths were followed by an attack on State Senator John Hoffman and his wife in Champlin, where the victims miraculously survived after emergency surgery.

A nearly 48-hour manhunt ended Sunday night outside Green Isle, Minn., where Boelter was taken into custody. State prosecutors have charged him with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder, and a suite of six federal charges tied to weapons and attempted violence against government officials. The scope of the notebooks and the arsenal found alongside them paint a grim portrait of premeditation so detailed it chills the soul.

Let the words of these torn-out pages echo as a cautionary verse, a lamentation inked in fear. The ink dries on yet another chapter of human folly—yet the final line remains unwritten.
