Charlie Sheen Spills the Tea on His Family’s Reaction to His Candid Doc

Charlie Sheen Spills the Tea on His Family’s Reaction to His Candid Doc
  • PublishedSeptember 8, 2025

I’m Quinn Parker, and I’m here to dish out the latest scoop – and I’ve got a doozy for you! Charlie Sheen recently opened up about how his family reacted to his new tell-all Netflix documentary, and let’s just say it’s a wild ride. The Two and a Half Men alum exclusively told E! News that his family had some initial reservations about the doc, but ultimately gave him their blessing.

As any parents would be, there was initial concern, Charlie shared, and not for how it would be received, but how it might affect him, and was he really ready to cannonball into this deep end. Despite the hesitation, the 60-year-old actor advocated for the project, telling his family that if he didn’t do it, then he would never control the narrative or influence it with some truth. Once they felt that he was confident that this was the right thing to do and the right time to do it, they were completely supportive.

The documentary, which features interviews from Denise Richards and Jon Cryer, takes a candid look at Charlie’s life, including his struggles with addiction and his experiences as a father. Charlie admitted that he still had his own hesitations about exposing his difficult past, but ultimately decided to trust the process and the director, Andrew Renzi. As the relationship with Renzi evolved, he said, ‘Look, man, people talk about things out there. Let’s just hear from you.’ So, that was part of the process to trust in each other.

In the end, Charlie noted that his mindset was, ‘If we’re gonna do this, let’s do it. Let’s meet it right down Broadway.’ The timing of the documentary, which was released on Netflix on September 10, and his new memoir, The Book of Sheen, which was released on September 9, was kismet for him. He shared that he couldn’t have done this five years ago, six years ago, or three years ago – there was enough time between all of the nonsense, all the chaos and carnage to finally have enough perspective to dig into it for the right reasons.

Charlie’s family tree is quite extensive, with five children from three different relationships. His first child, Cassandra, was born in 1984 with his high school girlfriend Paula Profit. Cassandra has mostly stayed out of the spotlight, but she was escorted down the aisle at her 2010 wedding to Casey Huffman by Charlie. Charlie and Denise Richards welcomed their eldest daughter, Sami, on March 9, 2004, two years after they wed. Sami first entertained the limelight when she appeared on Denise’s 2008 E! reality series Denise Richards: It’s Complicated as a child. Over a decade later, she made a name for herself in 2022 when she became an OnlyFans model shortly after turning 18.

Sami’s career move has proved to be quite lucrative, and she’s been open about the benefits of being her own boss. She told People in February 2025, ‘It opened so many doors for me, and I’ve met really cool people doing it, and it’s been really rewarding being my own boss and making my own hours and being able to do the things I’ve always wanted to do.’ Lola, who was just 3 when It’s Complicated premiered, grew up to be very different from her boundary-pushing older sister. Born on June 1, 2005, she is a woman of God and a devout Christian. The restaurant hostess told People in an interview published in February 2025, ‘I can’t explain it other than it literally was supernatural.’

As for Charlie’s relationship with his children, he’s been open about the challenges he’s faced as a father. He recently admitted that he’s in the dark as to why his daughter Sami is estranged from him. Despite the ups and downs, Charlie seems to be focused on moving forward and sharing his story with the world.

And that’s a wrap, folks! Charlie Sheen’s documentary is out now, and it’s a wild ride. Stay tuned for more updates on this saga.
