Charlie Sheen Opens Up About His Regrets Over Two and a Half Men Exit

Charlie Sheen Opens Up About His Regrets Over Two and a Half Men Exit
  • PublishedSeptember 4, 2025

As I scroll through the latest celebrity news at 2 AM, shaking my head in dismay, I stumble upon yet another tale of woe and regret. And so, it seems Charlie Sheen is no exception to the rule. The 60-year-old actor recently reflected on his tumultuous exit from the hit sitcom Two and a Half Men back in 2011, and let’s just say it’s a wonder he’s not still reeling from the aftermath.

Charlie Sheen knows the way he left Two and a Half Men wasn’t exactly his finest hour, especially considering his public struggles with drug addiction at the time. In a recent interview with People, Charlie admitted that his 2011 firing from the beloved sitcom is still a dark spot in his memory. “I regret that specifically still,” Charlie confessed. “If I hadn’t done what I had, I could be living a different life right now. All my problems wouldn’t be what they are. But you just don’t know that.”

It’s clear that Charlie has been doing some soul-searching over the years, and his journey towards sobriety has been a long and arduous one. Since departing the series, which also starred Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones, Charlie began his sobriety journey and has worked on tackling the destruction his addiction caused. “Forgiveness is still an evolving thing,” Charlie continued. “I still get what I call the ‘shame shivers.’ These are the moments that hit me, of the heinous memories and choices and consequences. They’re getting farther in between, so I guess that’s progress.”

What’s interesting is that Charlie’s path towards healing has also involved making amends, and it’s been a eye-opening experience for him. “What has been interesting about making amends is that most people have been like, ‘Hey yeah, we’re good man, but we hope you’ve also forgiven yourself.’” This introspection has also played a part in his new projects: a memoir titled The Book of Sheen and a Netflix documentary titled aka Charlie Sheen, releasing September 9 and 10, respectively.

Charlie’s clear that his memoir isn’t about setting the record straight or righting past wrongs. “It’s not about me setting the record straight or righting all the wrongs of my past,” he explained. “Most of my 50s were spent apologizing to the people I hurt.” “I also didn’t want to write from the place of being a victim,” he noted of his book. “I wasn’t, and I own everything I did. It’s just me, finally telling the stories in the way they actually happened. The stories I can remember, anyway.”

As for what’s next for the son of legendary actor Martin Sheen? He’s taking it one day at a time. “I’m not calling all of this a comeback,” Charlie said. “I’m calling it a reset. I’m just living for the next moment, whatever that turns out to be.”

Charlie’s family has also been in the spotlight over the years, and it’s been a wild ride for his kids. Charlie welcomed his first child Cassandra with his high school girlfriend Paula Profit in 1984 when he was only 19 years old. While Cassandra has mostly stayed out of the spotlight, she was escorted down the aisle at her 2010 wedding to Casey Huffman by Charlie himself.

Charlie and now-ex-wife Denise Richards welcomed their eldest daughter together on March 9, 2004 two years after they wed. Sami first entertained the limelight when she appeared on Denise’s 2008 E! reality series Denise Richards: It’s Complicated as a child. Over a decade later, she made a name for herself in 2022 when she became an OnlyFans model shortly after turning 18. And the young star’s career move has proved to be quite lucrative ever since. “It opened so many doors for me,” Sami told People in February 2025, “and I’ve met really cool people doing it, and it’s been really rewarding being my own boss and making my own hours and being able to do the things I’ve always wanted to do.”

Lola, who was just 3 when It’s Complicated premiered, grew up to be very different than her boundary-pushing older sister. Born June 1, 2005, she is a woman of God and a devout Christian. “I can’t explain it other than it literally was supernatural,” the restaurant hostess told People in an interview published February 2025 after getting baptized in the church. “Jesus rescued me and he completely rewired my mind. He became my Savior, but also my best friend.” The teen also shared how religion saved her from the darkness of depression. “I felt so lost and hopeless, and was just doing my best to make it to the next day,” she admitted on Instagram. “He gave me a light, when I couldn’t find one.”

And so, another celebrity tale of regret and redemption comes to light. It’s a reminder that even the most seemingly glamorous lives can be marred by struggles and controversy. But hey, at least Charlie’s owning up to his mistakes and trying to make amends. That’s more than we can say for most of us.

Anyway, can’t wait to see how this gets worse.
