Cassie’s Text Messages Exposed in Diddy Court Battle

Cassie’s Text Messages Exposed in Diddy Court Battle
  • PublishedMay 17, 2025

Privacy: a quaint concept apparently abandoned by a Manhattan judge who just turned Cassie’s private messages with Diddy into open season. The bombshell: the court’s exhibit list now includes roughly 600 pages of DMs, glittering with flirtatious banter and sudden requests for bail. According to court filings obtained by TMZ, Cassie’s legal team promptly submitted the texts to substantiate her claim that the music mogul allegedly threatened to withhold her passport and even hinted at punitive measures if she spoke out. Diddy’s attorneys, of course, are rolling their eyes so hard one might worry about permanent eye-rolling injuries. Meanwhile, Cassie’s counsel insists these exchanges highlight a disturbing power dynamic in their post-relationship fallout; the New York Supreme Court’s clerk certified the entries last Friday, giving the judge a front-row seat to every emoji-laden plea.

In one message from late 2018, Cassie allegedly texts, “I’m scared, please don’t do this,” to which Diddy allegedly replies, “Trust me, it’s for your own good.” That sentence right there belongs in a self-help book titled ‘How Not to Cheat by Text.’ Outside observers can’t decide what’s more dramatic: the allegations themselves or the fact someone still uses the phrase ‘for your own good’ like it’s the 1950s. The documents, also reviewed by The New York Post, note that Diddy counters this narrative, claiming the exchanges were mutually intended as light-hearted and never coercive. Yet here we are, thumbnails of two grown adults trading ultimatums instead of memes.

Industry insiders told Variety that the inclusion of these messages could significantly shift the momentum in Cassie’s favor, especially if a jury gets to see the full context—complete with that one message where Diddy casually tells Cassie to “chill.” It’s chilling that he thinks so many texts would qualify as ‘casual.’ TMZ reports the next hearing is scheduled for late June. By then, we’ll all have popcorn in hand, hoping this script finally ends before the sequel—inevitably titled “Re-Entries: The Return of the Texts.”

Well, there you have it: nothing says true love like making your ex’s emoji usage public. Tune in next time for more of your favorite stars’ digital facepalms.
