Cameran Eubanks Thinks “White Lotus” Dad Sounds Like Southern Charm’s Thomas Ravenel

Cameran Eubanks Thinks “White Lotus” Dad Sounds Like Southern Charm’s Thomas Ravenel
  • PublishedFebruary 24, 2025

Cameran Eubanks, the beloved alum from “Southern Charm,” just weighed in on a sizzling connection between her reality show and HBO’s hit series “The White Lotus.” After an exclusive from People Magazine revealed that the Ratliff family in the upcoming third season of “The White Lotus” drew inspiration from “Southern Charm,” Eubanks took to Instagram to share her spicy two cents. She hilariously threw some casket emojis on her post and then dropped the bomb that Jason Isaacs’ character in “The White Lotus” sounds a lot like former Southern Charm castmate Thomas Ravenel. According to Eubanks, that accent ain’t North Carolina – it’s pure old Charleston charm.

Eubanks, whose résumé includes a rich Southern background (though she’s originally from upstate South Carolina), broke down the difference between contemporary Charleston dialects and their historical counterparts. Apparently, the modern Charleston accent has been diluted by an influx of Northerners, though some locals still cling to their traditional sound. She didn’t hold back as she laid out specific traits of the real Charleston accent, like “R-dropping” – whatever that means – and how they incorporate an “intrusive y” into their words.

This isn’t just Eubanks stirring the pot; Sam Nivola, the 21-year-old actor who portrays Lochlan Ratliff in “The White Lotus,” confirmed that creator Mike White encouraged the cast to binge-watch “Southern Charm” to nail their Southern characters. Nivola joked that it was a test of sorts, especially for his on-screen sister Sarah Catherine Hook, who apparently had no issues seamlessly sliding into her Southern persona as she hails from Alabama.

“White Lotus” promises a captivating familial drama, with Isaacs and Parker Posey playing the wealthy Southern parents grappling with personal crises amid their time at a wellness resort. The show’s first episode sets the stage for a whirlwind of tension as the Ratliff clan battles both external challenges like a lack of cell service and internal clashes over financial woes.

Tune in to “The White Lotus” on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and Max to see how all this Southern drama unfolds.
