Breaking: Air India Flight Crashes in India with Over 200 Onboard
  • PublishedJune 12, 2025

Oh my goodness, you guys, I am still trying to process the news – a plane carrying over 200 people just crashed in India and I am totally freaking out! I mean, can you even imagine? So, apparently, this Air India flight was headed to London’s Gatwick airport with 242 people onboard, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members, when it crashed just minutes after takeoff in the western city of Ahmedabad. I am talking like, seconds after takeoff – it’s just insane!

According to reports from NBC News, the plane, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, crashed in a civilian area, specifically near a doctors’ hostel, which is just heartbreaking. And get this – there were 160 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian national, and seven Portuguese nationals on board, which is just a crazy mix of people. The airline has confirmed that they are cooperating fully with authorities and that injured passengers are being taken to the nearest hospitals.

Now, I know what you’re thinking – what happened? Well, from what I understand, the aircraft’s signal was lost just seconds after takeoff, which is terrifying. And can you believe the footage that’s been shared on social media? Plumes of black smoke rising from a civilian location near the airport – it’s just horrific.

The Indian government and officials are, of course, devastated. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to express his condolences, saying, “The tragedy in Ahmedabad has stunned and saddened us… It is heartbreaking beyond words.” And India’s Civil Aviation Minister, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, shared that he was “shocked and devastated” and that rescue teams had been mobilized to provide medical aid and relief support.

The Tata Group, which acquired Air India in 2022, also released a statement, saying their primary focus is on supporting those affected and their families. I mean, it’s just so sad – my heart goes out to everyone involved.

As for Boeing, they released a statement saying they are aware of the initial reports and are working to gather more information. I mean, I’m sure they’re going to be investigating this for a while.

Okay, I need to calm down after that – it’s just so much to take in. I swear, I could talk about this all day, but I think I’ll just wrap it up here. Whew, what a crazy story!
