Andrew Scott’s Painful SAG Awards Secret Revealed!

Well, well, well, if it isn’t Andrew Scott dropping a bombshell about his SAG Awards experience back in 2020! The beloved star, recognized for his sensational turn as the Hot Priest in “Fleabag,” recently opened up about a not-so-glamorous moment: passing a kidney stone while trying to enjoy Hollywood’s glittering night. Yes, you read that right—one moment he was cheering for Laura Dern, and the next he was bent over backstage, clutching his side in agony.
Scott shared with Variety that the whole scene was quite the spectacle. As he stood applauding Dern, who took home the award for Best Supporting Actress in “Marriage Story,” the pain hit him like a freight train. Instead of gliding through the event, he found himself crawling out of the room and desperately attempting to strip off his tuxedo. Talk about a real-life medical drama unfolding in the midst of a star-studded ceremony!
Scott, who had dealt with kidney stones before (a lovely gift from the universe we wouldn’t wish on our worst enemies), knew precisely what was happening. But it didn’t make it any less chaotic. As he recalled, Waller-Bridge was heroically fetching water for him as he churned in pain, and, remarkably, he could still hear Dern’s speech in the background while he was being whisked away to the hospital. “It happens immediately,” Scott said.
The good news? He didn’t miss his moment in front of the cameras, as his nomination ended up being announced first. But hey, it doesn’t help that Tony Shalhoub snagged the win for “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” While Scott may have walked away from that night empty-handed in terms of awards, he certainly carried a memorable story, though he humorously declined to elaborate on what happened to that kidney stone. “That’s too much. People don’t need to know about that,” he joked.
Fast forward to 2025, and the actor made a triumphant return to the SAG Awards, dancing his heart out and bringing a renewed sense of joy. Rumor has it, he managed to steer clear of any medical mishaps this time around! It’s safe to say that his SAG Awards saga makes for a legendary Hollywood tale.
