Andrea Bowen and Josh Zuckerman Expecting First Baby: A New Chapter for the Desperate Housewives Alum

Hey, it’s Riley Carter here, and I’m only mildly excited to share that Andrea Bowen, the talented actress known for her role as Julie Mayer in the hit ABC drama Desperate Housewives, is pregnant with her first child with husband Josh Zuckerman. I mean, it’s cute and all, but let’s get into the details.
Andrea Bowen, 35, took to Instagram on September 9 to share the joyous news with her followers. She posted a heartfelt photo of her smiling as Josh held up a sonogram strip, accompanied by a caption that read, “@zuckermanjosh and my best collab yet – a little girl arriving later this year! We are bursting with happiness!!!” The photo also included a picture of her caressing her baby bump and a throwback shot of her and Josh at their wedding last August.
Josh Zuckerman, 40, who appeared as Eddie Orlofsky in season six of Desperate Housewives, confirmed that he’s ready for fatherhood with a sweet comment on Andrea’s post. “Baby. I’m yours,” he wrote, including several pink hearts. “And also that baby’s.” The couple’s friends and former co-stars were quick to congratulate them, with Teri Hatcher, who played Andrea’s on-screen mom in Desperate Housewives, writing, “Bursting with happiness for you both, too! Sending you so much love.”
Molly Tarlov, a former co-star of Josh’s in the TV series Awkward, also congratulated the couple, referencing Andrea’s character arc in Desperate Housewives. “I knew it wasn’t Porter’s all along!” she wrote, likely referring to the plot twist in which Julie finds out that Charlie Carver’s Porter Scarvo is the father of her baby at the end of the show’s sixth season.
As Andrea prepares for motherhood, she’s also getting ready to co-host a new podcast with Teri Hatcher called Desperately Devoted. The podcast will also feature Teri’s real-life daughter Emerson Tenney, and Andrea expressed her excitement to be revisiting the show and her on-screen family at this time. “Revisiting the show at this time with my TV mom of so many years, and her daughter, whom I got to grow up alongside, while I embark on this journey of motherhood with my daughter feels really special,” she told People.
It’s worth noting that Andrea’s not the only Desperate Housewives alum with exciting news. Teri Hatcher has been keeping busy with various projects, including a YouTube channel called Hatching Change, which features segments like “Van Therapy” and “Don’t Eat ‘It’ Out of a Box.” She also won a special Holiday Celebrity episode of Chopped season 17 and provided the voice of Dottie in the Disney animated film Planes and its sequel Planes: Fire & Rescue.
As for the rest of the Desperate Housewives cast, they’ve also been up to some interesting things. Eva Longoria, who played Gabrielle Solis in the show, has been open about her friendships with her former co-stars, telling Jimmy Kimmel in 2018 that “ninety-nine percent of us are” still friends. However, there have been rumors of an alleged fallout between Hatcher and some of her fellow leads over the years.
In 2021, Hatcher reunited with her on-screen love James Denton for Hallmark Channel’s holiday movie A Kiss Before Christmas. Meanwhile, Felicity Huffman, who played Lynette Scavo in the show, starred in the series American Crime, which earned her three consecutive Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie. She also appeared in Get Shorty, When They See Us, Big Game, Cake, and Otherhood.
Huffman’s personal life made headlines in 2019 when she was charged by the FBI and U.S. Attorney General’s office in a nationwide college entrance exam cheating scandal. She was accused of paying someone $15,000 to pretend to be her daughter Sophia and take her SAT exam for her.
Anyway, that’s the deal with Andrea Bowen and Josh Zuckerman’s new baby. Do with it what you will.
