Alexis Bledel Revives Tuck Everlasting as Anniversary Audiobook Narrator
Hey, it’s Riley Carter checking in with some laid-back nostalgia vibes. So, Alexis Bledel is back in the Tuck Everlasting universe, this time behind the mic rather than on screen as she narrates the 50th anniversary audiobook of Natalie Babbitt’s cherished novel.
Alexis first became Winnie Foster in the 2002 film adaptation of Tuck Everlasting, sharing the screen with Jonathan Jackson, Ben Kingsley, Sissy Spacek, Victor Garber, Elisabeth Shue, and William Hurt. Now at age 43, the Gilmore Girls alum revisits the enchanted spring and immortal Tuck family for a fresh generation of listeners.
In a May statement to People Magazine, Alexis said, “It has been an amazing experience to revisit this world. Tuck Everlasting holds a special place in my heart, having played Winnie Foster in the film many years ago.” She added that narrating “this beloved story” for its milestone anniversary has been “a wonderful journey back into a tale that challenges us to think about what it truly means to live a meaningful life.”
The original book, published in 1975, went on to earn a Newbery Honor and has sold over 10 million copies worldwide. It follows young Winnie Foster in 1914 America as she encounters the Tuck family, who discovered immortality via a hidden spring deep in the woods. That encounter forces Winnie—and readers—to weigh the pros and cons of eternal life.
Fans got an early taste when a clip of Alexis narrating the opening lines was released, setting the mood with vivid descriptions of a quiet wood and a curious girl. The full audiobook drops on September 2, accompanied by a special 50th anniversary print edition and an original graphic novel adaptation by K. Woodman-Maynard.
