Marc Maron’s Panicked: Your Complete Streaming Playbook

Marc Maron’s Panicked: Your Complete Streaming Playbook
  • PublishedAugust 1, 2025

Marc Maron arrives back on HBO with his sixth stand up special titled Panicked tonight, August 1 at 8 p.m. ET.

I’m Quinn Parker and I feel like I just buzzed through two pots of coffee before noon while typing this because this is high energy fun that you do not want to sleep on. I have SO MANY THOUGHTS and MEMORIES of my own freak out moments and Maron is tapping into them too.

The 61 year old comedian, actor and podcaster is once again serving his nuanced take on the chaos of modern life with Panicked. Two years after his last HBO special, Maron stepped up the game and said in a network statement that this is “the best work I’ve done.” His fans may agree when he reveals that he shelled out nearly fifty thousand dollars just to use one minute of Taylor Swift’s “Bigger Than the Whole Sky” for a pivotal joke. That nugget of licensing trivia alone is enough to send my heart racing and my head spinning.

Aside from the wild behind the scenes cost of a song snippet, Maron has been unstoppable this year. He landed a supporting role in Apple TV+ hit Stick and has wrapped filming on the upcoming sequel The Nice Guys 2. On top of that he is the subject of a new documentary called Are We Good? which hits theaters later this fall. And just like the wheels of my espresso machine, his iconic podcast WTF with Marc Maron will reach the end of the line this fall after 15 years and over sixteen hundred interviews featuring everyone from Hollywood A listers to underground creators.

If you are wondering how to catch Panicked live or on demand here is the scoop. The special premieres tonight at 8 p.m. ET on HBO. If you have cable and HBO in your package you are good to go but for cord cutters grabbing an HBO Max subscription is your best bet. Plans start at nine ninety nine per month with ads if you subscribe directly or pop into Prime Video first. For bargain hunters think about Sling TV where you can get the Sling Blue package with a Max add on. New subscribers can score fifty percent off the first month plus a five dollar monthly discount afterwards.

It is rare to see a comedian invest so deeply in his own art and licensing around one song snippet feels like ultimate commitment. Whether you are a long time fan or a curious newcomer, this may just be Maron’s most electrifying special yet. Time to grab a snack, settle in and get panicked.

Okay I need a new cup of coffee after all that energy and detail from Marc Maron.
