RHOD Star D’Andra Simmons Opens Up About Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Hi, I’m Quinn Parker, and I’m buzzing like three espresso shots talking about D’Andra Simmons as she announced her breast cancer diagnosis on July 29. Okay, so let me tell you, this is WILD, and I have THOUGHTS and FEELINGS that we need to unpack.
Real Housewives of Dallas alum D’Andra Simmons confirmed in an Instagram post that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will receive care at the UTSW Simmons Cancer Center in Dallas, the very hospital her family helped establish nearly 30 years ago. In her heartfelt update, the 56-year-old reality star shared gratitude for the medical team and expressed confidence that one day she will add “breast cancer survivor” to her list of life experiences.
“Today is the day,” Simmons wrote on Instagram, revealing that she was scheduled for three separate surgeries on July 29. The first two procedures involved seed localization to mark both the tumor in her breast and the affected lymph nodes. The final surgery focused on removing those marked areas. Right after her hospital stint, husband Jeremy Lock took to his Instagram Story to reassure fans that his wife was “doing good” and needed plenty of rest. He acknowledged the couple’s deep appreciation for all the prayers and messages, candidly adding, “God bless, and cancer sucks.”
Fans and Bravo family members rushed to offer support. Costar Stephanie Hollman commented under Simmons’ Instagram post, “Love you D’Andra and am here for you if you need anything at all. You are in my prayers.” The outpouring of love highlights just how tight-knit the RHOD cast remains, even off camera.
It’s not the only recent celebrity cancer journey making headlines. Earlier this year, an All My Children alum announced a prostate cancer diagnosis—his third battle with the disease—and celebrated being declared cancer-free in February. Golden Bachelor favorite Gerry Turner revealed a Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia diagnosis in December, calling it a “10-ton concrete” moment in his life. Meanwhile, Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles and Vanderpump Rules’ Lisa Vanderpump have each shared their own victories over cancer types ranging from prostate to anal and basal cell carcinoma.
Through it all, Simmons remains focused on using her platform to uplift others facing similar battles. She concluded her announcement by thanking everyone for the “prayers and support” sent her way, promising to share her story in hopes of inspiring those currently in the fight.
Whew, that was a LOT to share, and my heart is racing from all this news. I swear, I could talk about this all day, but I’ll let you catch your breath first!
