Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty Confirm Separation After 12 Years Together

Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty Confirm Separation After 12 Years Together
  • PublishedJuly 29, 2025

Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty announced their separation via a joint BBC statement on July 29. Hi, I am Riley Carter, bringing you the news with just enough detachment to keep it interesting. Another day, another celeb twist, but this one comes with a surprisingly cordial tone.

So You Think You Can Dance host Cat Deeley, 48, and BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Patrick Kielty, 54, have decided to turn the page after a dozen years of marriage. In their shared statement released to the BBC, the pair clarified that there was “no other party involved” in their decision. The emphasis was firmly on co-parenting their sons Milo, 8, and James, 5, and they politely asked fans and the press for privacy as they navigate the next chapter.

Their story began back in 2002 when the two first crossed paths while cohosting the BBC talent show Fame Academy. It would be another decade before romance officially bloomed. In a 2015 chat with the Daily Mail, Kielty admitted he flew from Belfast to Los Angeles on a whim to surprise Deeley for her birthday lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel. He laughed about ignoring advice to sleep it off, saying he woke at 5 a.m., caught a 6 a.m. flight to London, then another to L.A., arriving just in time to toast her big day in style.

The couple exchanged vows in Rome in 2012, cementing a partnership that produced two boys: Milo arrived in 2016 and James joined the family in 2018. In 2020, Deeley and Kielty moved from L.A. to London when she signed on to cohost This Morning alongside Ben Shephard. Even then, Deeley was quick to credit her husband for being her biggest ally. In a People interview following James’s birth, she stressed that “it takes a tribe,” pointing to family, friends, and nannies as essential support.

Despite the split, the former couple insists their bond as parents remains strong. Their joint statement read, “We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children,” closing with a clear request: “There will be no further comment.” Fans and industry insiders are already speculating on how this amicable separation will unfold, especially since both stars are known for juggling high-profile hosting gigs and busy family lives.

Cat and Patrick’s announcement joins a growing list of high-profile splits this year, reminding us that even the most polished celebrity couples can reach a crossroads. While the news is fresh, the emphasis on mutual respect and co-parenting suggests this story will be more about a career pivot than a scandalous fallout.

Anyway, that just happened. Do with it what you will.
